A bit later on Toilday, 7th Rova, 4709 AR2, they opened a door. The walls, floor, and ceiling of this immense room were coated with iron plates, each bearing strange and sinister runes. The electricity dance and shimmered in arcs over the room’s surfaces. The ceiling arches rose upward to a height of eighty feet. To the far south, a single door provides an additional exit from the vast, empty chamber. Two huge dragons stared at him, he gaped as they opened their maws, then Runelord Sorshen appeared and said "If you leave now, all will be forgiven, just go now, Giganticus will not harm you, just go."
Venaius immediately said “I will hunt down and kill you with absolute hatred and revenge!” Then he saw Sorshen disappear. His companions entered the room behind Venarius quickly after she disappeared. Giganticus roared and breathed a bolt of lightning, Venaius ducked while Yovan took the bolt straight on, Alexander and Lelani missed the worst of it. Venaius realized that the dragon to the south was semi unreal, a shadowy illusion, a shadow duplicate. He let the others know that it was not real, but most could not shake the illusion, but Veshurae saw it for what it was, nothing to threat about.
Venaius started attacking the east dragon with his whip, while Yovan cast a fireball. The dragon’s wounds sealed up, and Yovan realized that the dragon shared some characteristics with an Iron Golem. She let the other’s know, and at first they thought it was a disguised Iron Golem, while it certainly could be slowed by lightning, there the similarity ended. Slowly most of them realized that the southern blue dragon was just a shadowy reproduction, even though Yovan took another bolt of dragon breath that singed her badly.
They cast more lighning and electricity spells at Giganticus, Yovan and Shyrg wanted it slowed. Slowed, it could not unleash all its natural weapons on Alexander and Crimson, and slowly they beat the defending metal clad beast into a pulp, until it fell and nicked Alexander. It lay still and quite dead, while Venarius went to the southeast door. The wasp and the raven flew around the room finding items in the multitude of coins. They could not open their portable holes or bags of holding so they took just what they could carry. Veshurae got a new bracer of armor, Venarius opened the next door. The amount of gold was staggering, but they could not carry it away. They found twelve pearls, a gold key and an anklet of gold and precious gems. Venarius kept the gold key on his person.
They left the door and proceeded east down the hallway, they found a door protected force. They tried to wet it with the water from the nearby wells, but the force protection stayed in place. Then Veshurae went to the peripheral wells, and brought fluid from its cisterns. The force dissipated and Venarius opened the door. He saw a circular slab of granite sitting on the floor of this otherwise empty room, the granite glowed faintly with an inscription of a seven-pointed star on its surface.
Venarius concentrated and realized this was a teleportation circle to another location in this place. He moved onto the circle, and disappeared from view. He was looking at walls of a large chamber made of stone, yet it shimmered and sparkle with green energy. Not only was he standing near a stone disc bearing a carving of an seven-pointed-star and a pair of ten-foot-wide alcoves to the northeast and southeast that sis not have this scintillating glow. To the east he saw three circular risers, steps leading up to a large throne that -seemed to be made of crystal and mist. The room itself resonates softly with mysterious organ music that seems to come from everywhere at once. Sorshen set on the throne. She said, you were warned, and cast a mind fog in the room near by the dais, and a sleet storm near the circle.
Meanwhile Venarius let Crimson know that he found Sorshen and they should come. As they materialized in the chamber near the teleportation circle, it was dark and slick, and movement was very slow through the area. Yovan could not dispel the sleet storm, because she did not have the spell. Eventually between Crimson and Veshurae, they managed to dispel the offending spell effect, while Venarius charged Runelord Sorshen ignoring the handmaiden devils defending her. The handmaidens tried to grapple him, but he was a slippery character that managed to slip their grasp, and do serious damage to their mistress. Alexander neared Sorshen, but then he decided to help the runelord who was all of a sudden the most beautiful and wonderful woman in the world, needing of his protection and love. He moved toward Crimson to block her way.
With the sleet storm gone, the unthinkable happened; Lelani ran into a wall of force, soon Veshurae dispelled it with a disintegrate spell, and Lelani cast an antimagic field and moved with impending doom toward the Runelord who was her arch enemy. Then things went from bad to worse, Venarius was caught in the field, he could no longer evade the grappling advances of the handmaiden devils. First a handmaiden was able to manhandle Venarius and pin him to the ground, while Lelani watched in horror, and Vanarius yelled “Turn it off!” the other handmaiden wrapped a tentacle around Lelani. The loyal cleric of Sarenrae was not looking well at all, pandemonium was breaking out on the floor near Sorshen. Shyrg tried to dispel the antimagic field, but the spell was ineffective against Lelani’s potent divine magic.
Lelani used her helm to teleport away from the offending handmaiden, and just in time a bit more later, and she would be dead. She brought down the antimagic field, and healed cast a mass heal, there was no reason to use half measures here, much was in the balance. By then Yovan changed back from being an earth elemental, to her normal angelic self and neared her befuddled husband. Alehander saw clearly now, Crimson was his ally. Alexander and Crimson joined the fight against Runelord Sorshen. Venarius broke free from his oppressor, ironically she was female. All three of them assaulted Runelord Sorshen, while Veshurae attacked the handmaiden nearest her with disintegrate spells. That handmaiden attacked the Halfling sorceress that looked like a little girl, that thought to her-self, this is the end of the world and yelled “Venarius, get this mess under control” while she long-stepped away from the handmaiden and fed it another disintegrate spell head on!
Venarius, Crimson and Alexander gained up on the beleaguered runelord, under the great blows she could not survive for long. With the last cut against her, the woman that was Sorshen exploaded into a gout of blood! Venarius yelled “She is a fake one!” Veshurae yelled “Venarius what are you doing, it is your fault entirely! Kill the right Sorshen next time, she shook her head disappointed.”
Venarius was not paying attention to her, because he saw a latch on the crystal throne. He threw away all caution, and examined the latch. There was a keyhole there, he stuck the golden key in the latch and turned it. The wall disappeared.
They were whisked into another extra dimensional chamber, Sorshen's grand space, a laboratory of sorts. This is an expansive room was grand. Runelord Sorshen was far away from them, she geantly spoke, as if lecturing barbarian children that did not know any better:
“The point is kings and queens, ladies and lords, that lust — for lack of a better term — is great. Lust is right. Lust is what the world needs. Lust satisfies, it is honest, and cuts right to the core of the matter. Lust, in all of its forms — lust for life, lust for money, for love, knowledge — has tracked the upward trend of humanoid kind.
I was gone for 10,000 years. The catalyst for my return was an auspicious female from a region once known as Thassilon, the realm of Xin-Eurythnia. A small sacrifice given everything that I could bring to the world, I could end poverty, hunger, usher in a new age of prosperity and well being, as the great prophets predicted before the event you refer to as the Earthfall.
I consulted my allies, I wanted things as before, I would have invited them to share in the dream, because I thought that some of Korvosan heroes are worthy to be equals, I was about to send Lorthact to parley but Lothact could not bear it, he hated one of them. Then Belzeragna was invaded by the Korvosan’s, which ruined Lorthact. I knew then they would make piece. I decided to harden my heart. The hope for peace was gone. My plans ruined no sex on the beach, my allies promises that I would rule Varisia by summer, in shambles. If his assassin and army succeeded, Korvosa would have been great again. In the darkness of night, my poor devil, he was never the same again. I tried to distract him with orgies, but all he thought of was payback for harm caused by upstarts Korvosan’s.” [To be Continued…]
