Hello, I have been purchasing modules and book for fantasy grounds unity. I was wondering if there is a way to not have FGU displayed duplicated entries across multiple books. Such as it displaying the same item which is listed/referenced across multiple books.

Is there a way to prevent this or a extension that helps with this?

No. You can use the filters to see what's in any one book; but you can't remove duplicate entries. Note that in many cases although the entries have the same name they can be completely different; for example in classes those will appear in many books but will have different archetypes. It is worth noting also that as a DM you don't need the player's versions of module open as well as the DM modules. In some cases this will cut the number of entries considerably.

Would it be possible to add which source the entry came from in the pop out? What I mean by this is when you click on an entry and the new window with the full text opens, could there be an flag or other identifier in the new window that indicates from which source that entry came from? I have had my players use the drag and drop for various things like class and such. If I go back to look at the reference it came from, I have to plug around till I find the correct one. Sometimes they are so similar that I cannot tell.
I have included a .png to help illustrate.

The two Acolyte entries are from different sources. While pop-out window shows the text to start different, without closing them both and opening them again individually, it is hard to tell which one came from which source. Another instance I can see this becoming an issue is leveling. With multiple entries for classes, if my players (or me) forget which source we picked for the entry and utilize the Class button on the right instead of from the character sheet, we could end up adding slightly different features or even possibly duplicate entries as the system may think the PC multi-classed. I have not tested the duplicate features yet and may do that at another time.
I guess the question becomes if you take level one Wizard from say Essentials and then when the PC levels, use the Class button and drag and drop the Wizard from the PHB, would FG think that it is now a mulit-classed PC and not just leveling?

If you have the PHB then you don’t need the SRD, basic rules, or the essentials rules open or shared with your players.

Adding a class at level up is the same no matter what source you pick from, as long as you have all the resources you want open then all of the archetypes will be there. (Apart from the archetypes all the classes are the same as far as abilities etc are concerned). The only issue you could come across is if the player used a module which somehow becomes unavailable at a later date.
