Very very new to Fantasy Grounds and one of my players is using a cleric domain from 'Faiths of Forgotten Realms'. He has a spell called Blade Bane and I can't figure out how to automate it or if there is even a way to automate it. The publisher made an FG module for the book, but the spell doesn't have any effects in it.

So, I was curious if this could be done, here is the basic description of the spell:

"reduces all weapon damage you take by 2 per
successful hit. This reduction only applies to damage
from manufactured weapons, not natural weapons
(such as fangs and claws) or spells or other effects."

When the DM does the right kind of damage to the Cleric click the -2 button at the bottom left of the UI before rolling the damage. This will reduce the damage taken by 2.

Yeah, that's what we did. Was just hoping to automate. :)

It is possible to automate it but much more complex. You'll need two effects the fist being just the words Bane Blade; and the second will be IFT:CUSTOM(Bane Blade); DMG: -2.

The first effect will go on the Cleric that cast the spell and the second goes onto whatever creature is attacking the Cleric.

Hm, yeah, that does seem like more work than necessary.

Could you use an effect something like this (placed on the cleric)?

Blade Bane; RESIST: 2, slashing, piercing

This would reduce any slashing or piercing damage received by 2. You would need to manually toggle the effect on/off depending on the other criteria (natural vs manufactured weapons). Note that the effect as written would apply to any slashing or piercing damage (melee, ranged, magic, spell effects, walking into a rose bush, etc).

Yes, that's another alternative.

I still think the easiest way to do it is just click the -2 button before rolling.
