So I tried to have a look at extension files but all I see is this wall of weird texts. I dont really have much programming background so I have no idea what to do :(

Extension files are binary files in the ZIP file format.

If you want to look inside an extension file, you need to rename the file to end in .zip, and use a tool to open the files (Windows explorer, 7-Zip, etc.)
If you just want to use the extension file, you need to place it in the extensions folder under the FG data folder. (via folder button on FG launch screen).
