I am currently running an Eberron campaign with a group that meets on Tuesday nights. I have been considering starting up an additional group for a while, so thought I would throw this up on the boards and see if there'd be any interest. It'll be set in Eberron, obviously, and will begin with the Forgotten Forge mini-module included at the end of the ECS, and continue into the other mods in the series. Characters will start at level one.
A few things for consideration:
1) Start Time: I am looking to start up the game probably sometime around mid-June. I have either Monday or Friday as potential days for the game sessions, start time to be between 7 PM and 7:30 PM, EST. Because of scheduling difficulties experienced before, I'd like to keep any potential players within the EST time zone, or CST at the very least.
2) Party make-up: I would like to keep the total amount of characters to 4 max. Whether this is 4 players with one character each, or two players with 2 characters each, doesn't matter, but I would like to keep the character total to 4, just for simplicity's sake. I usually like to see a fighter/healer/mage/thief group, but will be willing to work with alternate combos, so long as everyone knows going into the game what potential weaknesses there may be. Also, I request that all players be over 18. My game can get pretty graphic, and would prefer to cater to an adult group. Sorry, just have had bad experiences with a younger audience that I don't wish to repeat.
3) Allowed Content: I am pretty easy about allowing most things into my games, as long as it is documented in any OFFICIAL printed source. I have a pretty extensive collection of the sourcebooks, so as long as what you want to use is in one of those books (and I actually HAVE that book), it will be allowed. Home-brew stuff such as invented spells or psionic powers will be extensively researched and tested before being allowed.
4) Know the setting: As this is an Eberron campaign, knowledge of that setting is a must. I don't expect anyone to know what the population of Zilargo is, but I would expect players to know what a dragonshard or Sharn is. If you have read the ECS cover to cover, and have read the Forgotten Forge adventure, you'll be expected to play dumb. :-)
5) Role-Play: My games tend to be heavy on role-play. If your tendency is more toward hack-n-slash, this game is not for you. I encourage and reward excellent role-play. With my current group, we have some sessions where there's no combat at all, and all role-play, and I consider some of those my best sessions. Be prepared to BE your character.
6) Scheduling: As mentioned above, I intend to start the sessions at 7-7:30 PM. I email game session reminders to all players the day of the game, if not the night before. If a player can not make the session, I need to know as soon as possible, so the other players are not made to wait for a player who does not show. As much as I know schedules can change in an instant, I also view signing up for the game as a commitment to show up on time for each scheduled session. Please consider your availabilty before signing up.
I think those are the major points I like potential players to know about my game. I'm not a know-all DM, and there are times when I fumble, but I like to think I put on a good game. I put a lot of effort into prepping an adventure for players, from maps to good NPC interaction, and can only hope my players enjoy themselves. If you're interested in joining, please respond to this post or shoot me a private message. Please indicate what time zone you're in, preference for day to play (Mon or Fri), and a character class preference. Look forward to hearing from you!
