I'm preparing for my first FGU game as a GM, and I'd like to know the pros/cons of the various server types (cloud versus LAN) and lists (public versus private). Can anyone give or point me to an explanation of why I'd want to use one versus the other?
Thanks in advance.

If you use the Cloud option, then the program will register you on the FG Lobby server as well as attempt to facilitate any network connections with your players, including falling back to relays if a connection cannot be facilitated directly.
If you use the LAN option, then the program will start a local server on your machine, but does not attempt to help set up connections with your players. It becomes the GM's responsibility to set up any port forwarding or other networking setup needed to access their machine from where the players are located.
Within the Cloud option, you can define your game as Public or Private. If you mark your game as Public, it is shown in the Lobby listing for all users. Otherwise, it is unlisted, and users must connect by typing in your FG user name ("Fot5").

Note; The easiest method for player to find your game and for the GM to setup is Cloud Public game. You can add a password to keep unwanted people from joining.
