View Full Version : Tiny display on Mac

6 of us are in a game. The display is working fine for most of us, but the two people playing on Macs have a visual display so tiny it's impossible to use.

Ideas? Help?

Scale the UI. They're probably on a Retina mac.

Either before joining a game goin into settings and change the scale, or once in game use the chat command "/scaleui xxx" where xx is 50 to 200 in percent. They also can change the Retina scaling within their o/s as well.

I seem to have this problem as well. I'm on an iMac Pro with a 5k display. the scaling worked fun until this last update. I have changed the scale to 200% and it's still too small.

This is now because FGU supports Retina displays, which further scales down FGU. So not only will you want to use Scaleui, but you will also want to change the Retina scaling at the O/S level for FGU.

Ok, a couple of observations:

1. Using /scaleui works on the retina screen of my iMac, but when dragging the application to my HD second monitor it is scaled up too much.
2. Using Retina scaling applies to the whole screen, not just the FGU application.

Other applications seem to handle the transition fine so to me this is really not a desirable user experience compared to how it was working. For me this feels more like a regression.

Without support for Retina displays, many Retina users were complaining about blurry text. The devs tried many ways to fix that without enabling Retina support but they could not find a work around. So, they enabled Retina support. The have made comments that they understand this has other impacts. But now Retina users are in a similar position to those using ultra high definition displays. They are still working on other solutions for high definition displays, but we will have to wait for that.

Yes, it's not ideal, but it is workable for us until they can work out another solution.

Ah, I see what you mean. 200% scaling is definitely nice for the built-in fonts, but the next domino to fall is graphics need to be double in resolution (and so it goes). Thanks for the context, it helped me understand the backstory.

200% is perfect for me now.
Text is sooooooo much easier to read.
Thanks heaps!
