View Full Version : Editing Resistance Calculation

So as part of some of the homebrew rules my group and i are using for our next campaign, we are changing resistance and vulnerability from just a binary half/double damage to a stacking system. 1 stack of resistance or vulnerability decreases/increases the damage by 25%, 2 50%, and 3 75%. The stacks are cumulative, and cancel each other out, so 2 stacks of fire resistance and 1 of fire vulnerability would balance out to 25% resistance. Is it possible to change how much damage the resistance effects automatically removes when the combat tracker auto calculates damage, or is that beyond the scope of things I am able to edit? Would make it easier on me to not have to manually math out all the damage.

Welcome!

What ruleset? When possible it's best post in the forum specific to the ruleset of interest, but when you don't, please make sure to let us know which rules so we can answer correctly.

That said, I don't know any rulesets that would be able to do this without an extension, but I mainly play D&D (3.5 & 5E).

No such mechanism in 5E. You could write an extension to do it, though given the stacking it might be a bit tougher. Someone might have something creative to do something similar without an extension, but not sure I can think of anything.
