Placing Map Tiles is essentially placing rasterized imaged right now.

What if the map tile packs were standardized to have certain types of tiles, so that you could plan a dungeon using whatever tile pack and then switch the tile pack for that dungeon layout on the fly?

A DM/GM could prepare only one map/dungeon for a game session and change the tile outlook according to where the player party chooses to go, e.g. whether they choose to go to the White Dragon's Ice Cavern Lair or to the Drow Outpost in the Underdark, a DM could use the single dungeon layout they have prepared - choosing between an ice themed tile pack and underground cavern compex tile pack during session (obviously having the monsters prepared for both alternatives, he can use the left-over encounters in their next session).

In addition to shortening prep time, this functionality would also help switch and compare map look & feel pre-game.

All map tile packs should have the same tile types for this to work, of course (intersection type 1, interesction type 2, long hallway, a bend to right, room type 1, room type 2, etc.). Introducing new tile types would require updating all previous tile packs.

Thoughts?
