Hi all,
My group is about to go up against the Drow on level 3 of Dungeon of the Mad Mage. I thought it would be cool to have some lighting/line of sight effects with the Darkness spell and Unity.
I was thinking that during the game I could just go into LOS mode and create a round or square "door" area. through with the party would not be able to see. Then, when the spell is over, I could open the door or even go back into LOS mode and delete the door.

Do you think this would work? Do you have any other suggestions?

One other wrinkle: I have one player character who has Devil's Sight, so ideally, I would like to exclude him from this spell. Do you have any idea how I could go about that? To tell the truth, as a workaround, I'm thinking of just texting him the image of the room via cellphone.

Again, any other suggestions?

By the way, we moved back to Unity after a few months of using Classic, and my players loved the LOS effects! They were quite excited.

You can simulate limits on vision by also enabling the mask - just as in Classic. There isn't a way that I can think of that would allow only one character to see further than anyone else.

I tend to use these; https://www.dmsguild.com/product/195599/DUNGEONS-AND-DRAGONS-5e-Spell-Tokens-21

They won't actually stop vision, but atleast they give a cool visual effect to indicate where the darkness is.

THANK YOU! Those are awesome. That was an easy $10 decision.

This is a question unrelated to my original post, but IS related to LordEntrails' post.
Is there a description or tutorial somewhere about using layers? I would like to put the spell tokens on a lower layer, so that I can put a character token within the spell token, and then be able to move the character token without grabbing the spell token.
Does that make sense?
Somehow, now, the spell token is always on top, so I have to move the spell token in order to move the character token.
I'm assuming there must be a way to put the spell tokens on a different layer, so they will not be moveable unless I want them to be.

FGC does not natively have layers. There are a few extensions though that have layers in them. I believe they all use/are based on this extension; https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?20231-Enhanced-Images-(layers)-for-FG-3-0-CoreRPG-(and-rulesets-based-on-CoreRPG)

FGU has layers built into it, but you need to add the spell image as an asset (tile) and not a token to benefit from them. See; https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGU/pages/950633/Working+with+Images+as+the+GM

I have been meaning to add a wish list item to have a layer lock to a token.
