Campaign Setting

Beneath the unyielding night sky, you stand before a towering glacier and recite an ancient rhyme, causing a crack to form in the great wall of ice. Beyond this yawning fissure, the Caves of Hunger await. And past this icy dungeon is a secret so old and terrifying that few dare speak of it. The mad wizards of the Arcane Brotherhood long to possess that which the god of winter’s wrath has so coldly preserved—as do you! What fantastic secrets and treasures are entombed in the sunless heart of the glacier, and what will their discovery mean for the denizens of Icewind Dale? Can you save Ten-Towns from the Frostmaiden’s everlasting night?

This campaign will be using the off the shelf Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden adventure in an regional Open World/Sandbox format. If players want to explore the area around Ten-Towns and seek out random adventure and fortune then we can go "off script" from the published adventure with homebrew and improv content. Additional details will be provided in the player handout. All official WotC publications and WotC UA Playtest material are allowed in addition to 3rd party expansion material chosen by the DM.

FG Version:

FGU Ultimate. No license needed by players.

VTT Addons:
All of Rob2E’s actions and effects along with the Syrinscape SuperSyrin subscription and Syrinscape sound triggers in game.

When:

We are scheduling Episode 3 for Friday 10/9 from 8:30pm ET (UTC-4) to 11:30-12:00 depending on where we can find a stopping place. The players are currently interested in Weekly games with individual downtime activities done via Discord text. Additional time slots may be requested by the players if schedules need to change.

Type of Players:
This is a Drop In Campaign. It is a long running campaign but broken out episodically so it is friendly for "drop in one shot" players. We set it up this way with a core of 2-4 regulars with 1-4 drop in players to supplement the party strength. It's a great mix for those who want to play week after week or those who don't have a lot of time and can only drop in once per month.

Permitted Characters:

We do not require Adventurer’s Legue (AL) Rules As Written (RAW). All character components from any 5EWotC publication are allowed. 5E WotC UA classified as Play Test is allowed, but I will need to code the character class in FG.

Alignment:

We don’t use alignment as a game mechanic. Your character and NPCs are all individuals acting in their individual, societal, guild, religious, etc. Best interest. Your character won’t be penalized for inconsistent behavior to an alignment. If you want to be evil or good all the time that is up to you. If you're evil before you've had your morning coffee then welcome aboard!

Voice/Text/Video:

Voice and Text will be necessary. Weekly voice sessions will be live group session. In between adventures downtime will take place in a play by mail format (not real time). You can relax and wait for the next voice session or have your PC or loyal NPCs do simple side quests or tasks to increase your wealth and influence. Webcams are optional. Privacy and anonymity will be respected if you don’t want your true names or faces revealed. Discord is preferred as a one stop shop, but if you prefer Zoom/Skype/Hangouts and email that works too.

Recording, Podcasting, Livestreaming:

DM reserves the right to record the audio session and video record the FG program to produce a text based recap that will become part of the adventurers journal distributed to the party. No livestreaming or podcasting unless the players want to go public.

Pricing

$15/live session via StartPlaying. You may book a session here and enter your payment information. The reservation system automatically cuts off after the max number of players have reserved a seat. Check the reservation system for seat availability.
