Not to beat a dead horse, but I was curious if FG2 now supports the hex overlay? We play DragonQuest and GURPS and we'd really like to use to use FG, but the lack of true support for hexes keeps us from buying it.

Not sure when they will put in hex grids, it would be a nice feature. One thing that you can do to get a hex grid on your map is to use a program like Campaign Cartographer and draw the Hex grid on it. I believe it has a hex grid drawing tool in it.

It would be easy enough to do a hex overlay in Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, or the Gimp.

No, you can't use FG2 to generate hex grids, but yes, you can use premade maps with hexagons already included in them. You can do that with some graphics programs. A background transparent layer containing only the hexgrid works well.

But due FG2 (at the moment) doesn't recognice the hexes, you can't use automatic snap-to-grid functions (movement, cone, areas...), but you can make it work manually.
Not a great problem for me, thinking devs will address the lacking functions in near future (?).

Here do you have a screenshot of a zoomed map -with FUM/Devinnight's tokens- from a GURPS Fantasy training session:
