View Full Version : Running Classic and Unity on the Same Computer

Hello!

Just starting to tinker with Unity, and thought i might inquire about possible conflicts first. I am continuing to run my weekly D&D 4E game using FG Classic, and in my spare time plan to get FG Unity set up to take over. Do i need to worry about any conflicts? For example, if my campaign has the same name in both, will it be a problem? I notice that each program has a different file location, so i'm assuming it's all good.

Please let me know if there's anything i should be cautious about!

No. You will be fine if you accept default installation directories. The only problem is if you do not use defaults and you either install in the same location or try to put the data folders in the same locations. Don't do that.

Note that once you migrate a campaign to FGU, you can not move it back. Detailed steps to move a campaign from FGC to FGU are here; https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?55522-How-to-Migrate-a-FGC-Campaign-to-FGU

If you try to update FGU while FGC is running, yes. Don't know about the other way.

I have another question to the original as I am finally thinking of doing the same.

Can I purchase the Unity package with my same ID profile? So I can own two subscription keys under my one profile (this). I am currently running four campaigns and would like to integrate one campaign at a time over to the Unity.

Yes you can. I run games in Classic and Unity all the time, using the same account. No problems at all.
Since you own FG Classic, you can upgrade to Unity at a reduced cost, but only if using the same account.
