For what ruleset?

For 5e create an ability called Innate Spellcasting and add the fireball spell into that. See the last video in this series for details on how to do that https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?42440-Tutorial-Video-Series

You might also want to look at taking a class over at https://fantasygroundscollege.net/. There is a coding effect class that you might like plus the DM 101,102 and 103 are good over all info. 103 will get into making a custom race.

To start open Spells. search on Fireball. Grab fireball and drag it down so it makes a copy. Unlock it and start playing around with the text. Change the level to 7, change the damage to what you want it to be. Probably remove the "At Higher Levels..."

Once you get something you want stop editing it. If you mess it up delete it and copy fireball over again.

For trap, create an NPC and add the details of the trap to an ability, Worded correctly you can do any saving throws, attacks and damage as well as adding effects once the trap is placed on the Combat Tracker. Again you haven't said for what ruleset. Or if you are using Classic or Unity. Visual effects are possible in both although easier in Unity - if you have any relevant images.

I am using FCU and the 5e Ruleset, would really appreciate some tips on how to use the trap properly, I have an encounter with an illusion of a floor with spiked pit traps and flyers that can grapple and drop the players into the traps if the illusion fails to fool them.

Also, yes please! ANY help with visual effects for spells and how to use them would be great! Thank you again!

If you have the Dungeon Master's Guide - or any of the published modules then look in NPCs for examples of traps. You create them just like you would an NPC and give them traits and actions which will add the necessary effects onto the CT when the trap NPC is placed there. The Hidden Pit Trap in the DMG is a good example of the kind of thing which you can do. If the trap triggers a spell then you can give the NPC the Spellcasting or Innate Spellcasting trait and add the spell into it as noted above - see the video linked above.

For spell effects then you'll need to find yourself some spell effect images - you can get some on the DMsGuid or search the internet. Put the image into the images folder inside FGData or in the images folder inside the campaign folder for your campaign name. Then just open up assets; find the asset in the correct bag (data for the images folder - campaign for the campaign/images folder) then just drag them onto your map. Select the layers menu and then the layer of the image and you can resize or move it etc.
