View Full Version : Character Sheets & Main Menus: Always Reset to Center?

Hello. Just started tinkering with FGU. I am using the D&D 4E ruleset.
I've noticed that the character sheets and the main menu lists (those with buttons on right of screen) always seem to default back to the center location when i restart FG, regardless of where i move them or what size i set. All other window locations/sizes seem to be remembered between sessions. Is this a bug?
Thanks,
Shimrath.

By design, the character selection window always appears in the center of the screen; and all the specific campaign record lists and sheets should remember last closed position.
Some questions
* Are you running any extensions?
* Is there a windowstate.xml file in your campaign folder after closing FG?

No extensions, but i did add a few mod files for 4E content (powers, feats, etc).
There is a windowstate file there, yes.
Thanks,

Also, i started tinkering with the free version and it wasn't an issue.
Then i realized i was running the free version (because i had my license keys mixed up) and upgraded to ultimate. That's when the problems started. It is also not remembering the state of the overall FG window.
Thanks,
Shimrath.

* Is the windowstate.xml file being updated when you exit FG? (i.e. Last Modified Date on file changed)
* Did you use the default installation directories for both the demo and the ultimate installation?
I'm wondering if there is a permission issue or something going on; or if you have two installation directories causing issues.

The windowstate file does appear to be updating.
I'm pretty sure that both versions were installed in the default location, yes.

Hmm, I just tested with the most recent build of FGU specifically on campaign list placement between sessions (Stories, NPCs, etc.), and it seems to be working as expected here.
Can you try these steps?
* Start FGU
* Create a brand new CoreRPG campaign
* Open Story list from sidebar
* Move window to upper left corner
* Close FGU completely
* Restart FGU
* Load the same campaign
Where is the window after you follow those steps? (You can use Windows snip tool to get partial screenshot (Windows key + Shift + S))
Thanks,

And now, miraculously, my 4E campaign is also acting as expected! :confused:

Hello, Shimrath again.
I transferred my FGC 4E campaign to FGU and everything seems to be working great, except: It refuses to remember the window state for the character sheets. Everything else seems to save just fine, but the character sheets revert back to the old positions every time.
Thanks,
Shimrath.

Update from Shimrath.
The problem with the window state of the character sheets finally worked itself out. Not sure if it was because of a recent update, or the fact that i tried running FGU as administrator. . .but it is settled nonetheless.

Yes, that was fixed in the last Early Access release for FGU on Thursday.
You should not run FGU as adminstrator as a general rule.
