Last update on that said is at SmiteWorks which means done and tested. Not sure what SmiteWorks does specifically, maybe packaging and encrypting, but it generally takes several weeks from when they get it. There are a lot of releases across the spectrum of rulesets so the queue is probably quite large. My assumption is it is first in, first out so more complicated releases probably take more time thus lengthening the queue.

Looks like a nice addition to Traveller games. :)

What do Smiteworks do? Check every link shows what's intended, checks all images are correctly sized and compressed, add all the additional store information required for Steam, submit to Steam and await approval. There was a large backlog a few weeks back....

I can see how that would create a back log, especially with the big releases. Is good to know, have often wondered.

My recovery is going pretty well, so I'm mostly almost back to normal. :) It was super unexpected and only detected because I was doing cardio clearance for a different surgery that still needs to happen. But for now, I'm mostly back.

Hi. Yes it does go on sale, it was on sale around the holidays so no telling when it will come around next.

I'm not an official rep for anyone, I just do this because I enjoy the game and like to help out.

That being said, SmiteWorks has said that Mongoose Publishing sets the price of their FG products, and that Mongoose is using the physical book price and not the PDF price, so prices here seem high. SmiteWorks has said that the pricing is best addressed to Mongoose.

Still, the quality of work that MadBeardMan and his Mad Associates put out is very high, so I at least have stopped worry about it and learned to eat less to pay for my Traveller fixes. ;)

Hi MunTheTraveller,

That's a great question, but there's no simple answer. I'm talking about official Mongoose products.

Every adventure will have a number of NPC's. Most have images and stats and a bit of flavour about them. The campaigns come with a lot more NPC's again, some with images, stats and flavour.

Yes there is more content on the way. If you follow MadBeardMan on the socials he has talked about the upcoming projects.

Currently updating things and building the new JTAS modules for 7-12 and beyond. After those are done the World Builders Handbook is likely the next one to come out.

Timeline is always flexible, Mongoose only has a 2 person VTT team for the three platforms they are handling and two game systems. Traveller and Paranoia.

The first post of this thread has the most up to date info right now for products I am working on. Unfortunately, I am unaware of anyone else working on any others right now. I have not decided what I am going to work on after I finish the CSC 2023 Update. I am trying to stay away from books that might need ruleset changes (I know there aren't that many).

The ruleset is currently in maintenance mode as the developer has stepped away. We do maintain the ruleset for bug fixes and provide expansions if time permits. You haven't mentioned what you would like to see in the ruleset expanded, but you can relay them and we see how much work it is and see if we can work on it with our other projects.

I thought MBM had started the 2024 update. I also thought 2300AD was just around the corner. I'd love to see vehicles and robots in the CBT tracker. Maybe an effect system. He's running the VTT support I think. I'll reach out to him and ask.

Awesome thanks. Nothing more helpful than to use consistent naming conventions when i need to find something. There is a minor problem with some items as well where different categories are used and some spellings aren't consistent between British english and the good old American english. Makes sorting and finding a little harder.

Well it isn't that easy for sure. I made a super simple mod for Rolemaster once just adding classes and spells. It sure helps to have a coding background to figure out why something isn't working.

Modules in our system are the data to be used and extensions/rulesets are the code that automate it in some way. A module would contain the Book, story entries, parcels, careers, and so on. Doesn't require any coding use.

When I did the most of the Deepnight books over the holidays, if I had a full day, I could actually get one done in about 12 hours. The CSC has so many more tables (oh god the tables!) and images compared to those. I do have my own CSV to Table importer, but it makes no sense to use for a few items like this book has everywhere. It worked great for the larger tables.

For the CSC 2023 Updates, I used a tool called Tabula that will extract all tables from PDF files and save it out to a CSV file but also had to figure out all the fields that various items needed to live properly in the database. I had to get all that organized into a consolidated spreadsheet of over 1000 items. I created my own FGU extension last year to import all CSV item data into FGU for my own campaign.

Doing this book was more akin to when I did Mysteries of the Ancients and Secrets of the Ancients as far as the amount of work goes.

Hope you all find it helpful. The images for all the items are so much better than the old book.

After researching this fully, there is a bit of a mess that we are left with. Madbeardman was a community developer who ended up working full-time for Mongoose for a very short period of time before he stepped down. He was doing all the conversion work for Traveller products and he made commitments back in 2022 to give away the conversions he was planning to do. He never did these conversions and never delivered them to us. He stepped down before actually doing any of that work, so he basically promised a bunch of work for free for people and then left before that work was completed. In order to resume product support for Mongoose Traveller products, we opened up the system to new community developers and we had several step up to the plate. These new community developers are working under a standard commission rate that we have for most of our product lines (15%). The amount of time and effort they invest in doing this conversion work is substantial, and the 15% commission at the volume we typically sell is often low compared to the work effort. It is very much a labor of love.

Despite this, it doesn't look good for one of our community devs to make promises to the community which may have lead to customer purchase decisions.

We think the fair and balanced solution forward is to bundle the 2022 update versions and the previous versions in mini-bundles that grant a 50% discount. That lowers the cost for the new versions while still providing some payment for the effort in converting the products. This will be applied automatically once you add it to your cart and it sees that you already have the pre-2022 version.

For people who are upset by this, you can reach out to support.fantasygrounds.com and we will get you a free version of the new module. To offer an opinion I would say to tackle newer things.

The new Reach Adventures or the new Borderlands book. Easier to convert, lots of text and images. Very useful to run a game, and as Stargrove mentioned less ruleset work to deal with.

According to the store page, the Traveller Core Rulebook Update 2022 requires the purchase of the ruleset. Unless I am missing something, this effectively means you need to buy both the old and new core rulebook in order to use the new one at all.

Also, will there be a bundle featuring only the "update" books at some point to avoid having to pay for both the old and new books? Something along the lines of 5e 2024 or the pf2 remaster books having a different bundle from the legacy ones.

I watched one of the many tutorials on how to create/convert a PDF into a module, seemed to mostly consist of copy / paste and text formatting. Obviously, this is when it's just like an adventure or something, I'm guessing if there are rules added, then you'd need to figure out how any automation works. Like doing something like the Aliens book seems it'd need to involve doing stuff with some sort of character creation, but then the Traveller system doesn't have a character wizard in the mainline yet (there is one in the forums; https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?59740-Character-Creation-Module).

I only add things to the list if I am converting them or someone has told me they are converting them. I keep updating a version of a spreadsheet of Mongoose products that MBM had shared with me early last year of who had or was dong what products. If you have something specific that does not involve ruleset changes feel free to DM me and I will get it added to my queue to convert. I and one other that I know of are just working our way through the product list and converting what I feel like at the moment. Its not terribly hard, just patience, time, and motivation. I don't want to see Traveller stagnate on FGU and so I do what I can to keep it alive.

While this is not related to a new Mongoose module for sale, it is something many GMs might find useful. It is a module of over 450 ready-made Task Chains that you can use in your campaigns or as reference. There is also a tutorial walk-through on how to use Task Chains with the Traveller Ruleset.

Yup. I am almost done with the Element Class Cruiser Box Set conversion and will start on it next.

I plan to make new releases a priority over the next year since there are so many new books scheduled for 2026 and fill in with older content unless someone requests something specific.

I am nearing completion of the conversion of the VHB2026, however...Toko and I have been collaborating on what it will take to integrate all the changes the new rules will make to the MGT2 Ruleset. So many differences exist, and we will try to coordinate our release as best we can. That being said, I will be done on my end well before he is ready on the Ruleset side of things and the next book conversion (Core Expeditions) may be available before the VHB2026 update will be.

Submitted an updated High Guard Update 2022 module that includes the 2026 errata and the new cover image that was released at the end of April. The original module was also missing a few of the Barbette Item records and those are now included.
