View Full Version : Can you hotkey a table roll?

Hi,

Dumb question but I can't get my brain around it.

I'm trying to set up a hotkey so that pressing/clicking it rolls on a table and puts out a different result each time (ideally without even opening the table window in my screen - the whole point is to reduce GM clutter running a sandbox and putting some very common tables like NPC personality down in the hotkeys).

If I drag the "shiny button" table title link to the hotkey, instead I get the table itself pop up when I click. Which is a little useful, but not what I want.

If I drag the dice from the table to the hotkey, it chooses a result and always echoes that same result to chat. Which again is not what I want.

Is what I want possible to do? What am I missing for how to achieve it?

Cheers, Hywel

Drag the dice roller to the quickbar.

That didn't work for me. It rolled the dice once and then always gave that same table result thereafter.

However, I did find the way - type /rollon tablename in the chat and drag that to the hotkey, that did it! :)

If that isn't working for you then there is a problem with something in your client. What ruleset are you using?

5E, FGU. Not all that much loaded - Squareware generator stuff, PHB, Rob2E effects coding, RPG safety toolkit extension.

When I drag the dice icon to the hotkey for one of my own table, it puts in a dice result on the table (which I can see from the hotkey text).

Interestingly, it seems to work dragging the Squareware table dice to the hotkey, it's only my own tables which are causing the problem. I dunno why, I *think* I've got all the settings the same. Still, no need to waste any of your time on it Zacchaeus, I've obviously done something wrong somewhere and the /rollon method fixes it anyway.

I've probably done something daft somewhere :)

Thanks!
