Example: last night wizard cast grease... was able to target multiple bad guys via the interface and that is great but we could not figure out how to put on the map the grease spell and it area of effect.. is that possible? Can we automate AoE spells that have a duration, like grease to show the AoE on the map? Is it possible to put some kind of graphic or symbol on the map to show the grease spell?

Use a pointer. You can create a shortcut one by holding down both mouse buttons dragging. Drag from the center to the edge. If you hold down shift while dragging you'll get a square, if you hold down cntrl you'll get a circle and if you hold down alt you'll get a cone. If you are playing on FGC and have grids on, the AOE of the pointer will be filled in.

You can use something like spell tokens (some available on the DMsGuild) for a great visual. But not worth it IMO except for things like Spiritual Weapon, etc that have a duration.
Or you can do it quick and simple and just add either a quick pointer or a pointer.
Quick pointers are done using right & left mouse buttons. arrow by default, ctrl-left-right for circle, shift-l-r for square, alt-l-r for cone. Each character can only have one.
Pointers are detailed here; https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGU/pages/950633/Working+with+Images+as+the+GM#Pointers-Menu

I would imagine this ought to be a future FGU feature myself.
To automate the AoE effects on cast of all in the zone is useful.
but just doing half the task and leave it to manual for the GM to get the rest of the needed work done don't seem right.
i'd imagine a duration AoE automation tool, by design would need to automate marking this on the map, tracking duration, knows to remove it when, and to apply appropriate effects to any tokens coming into contact with the marked area.
I hope this is already on the to do list somewhere, and has not escaped noticed by the design team to see to the full set of what all AoE GM rule functions require, and automate all aspects of that process flow for the users.

I use the spell tokens.
Here are 2 more threads on this. They have some links for some spell tokens.

https://fg2app.idea.informer.com/ If it is a feature you would like to see, make sure you add it here. More likely that the developers will see it there than in a response in a post. EDIT: As in Granamere's tagline

FGC does have targeting mode. Selection is only via a box though. See https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Tokens#Targeting

Thank you everyone for the responses, new DM, still learning. (using FGU)
Can someone please tell me why randomly during combat my players loose the ability to move their tokens? Just seems like we will be in combat, everything is good and suddenly for no reason that is self-evident one of the players will not be able to interact with his token on the battle map at all. Can anyone offer any help with that please?

I see the unable to move token in two situation;
1) When I am zoomed too far out. Just zoom in.
2) Token overlapping, when two tokens (PCs, NPCs, Spells, etc) overlap and you grab the wrong one (but as a player can't move the other).
Also make sure you don't have any issues with extensions or community rulesets (if using them).

Good Day All :)
Maybe using this extension, https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?57417-5E-Aura-Effects
Make a NPC or PC that has the effect set up and pull it from the CT to the map. I have not tried this, but might play around with it sometime. :)
