View Full Version : Rappan Athuk Session 30 Open Game Sat Noon PDT GMT-7

I still have a seat left for Saturday's game. We will be using FG2.

Rappan Athuk is a con open gaming room style campaign. Object is just to “sit down” and have fun exploring a huge old style dungeon. This is a dungeon crawl with “pick up” characters and players. Different character every session? Fine. Can only commit to one session? Great.

I’m looking for 4-6 players a session. If you are free and just want to play some D&D this Saturday come join in the fun at the "granddaddy of all dungeons". The current character level is 7th.

Timothy, Grelk Halfblood, Bersi, and Greven walk down to the shrine and after Timothy has a Lesser Restoration cast on him – venture forth into Rappan Athuk. Prior to entering the shrine the group had hammered out a plan that would allow them to avoid going down the well. Momently checked by their lack of a rope ladder the group descends into the depth. They pause at an ebony door and manage to get it open only to find another a short distance ahead. After almost a minute the first door begins to close, shearing the pitons driven in to keep it open. The group pulls out before the door closes all the way. Continuing down, they pass the Arch Mage’s warning and cross the stream and go down another set of stairs. Heading back into the cavern with mostly eaten Ogre bodies, the group follows a corkscrewing natural passage down. They find several large caverns.

Hearing some noise they investigate the second cavern. Several party members are hit by a sticky white liquid from unseen assailants. Bersi flys up and confronts the creatures 70 feet up which turn out to be spiders. Bersi kills one but retreats when others rush towards him. Without range weapons and not able to see the creatures the group decides to retreat back to the tunnel leading into the cavern. As they do a fireball goes off engulfing Bersi, Timothy and Grevn. Staggered and most badly hurt, the three hasten their retreat. Grelk follows but is hit by a parting lighting bolt. Just afterwards the group is pulled back to the shrine but along the way the journey is checked a creature of shining light gives gifts to the heroes for their effort against Rappan Athuk. Each member of the party arrives back at the shrine lit by a blue glow visible even in the noon sun.

Well, the first FG2 session went pretty good though we had took longer than normal for preparation, but still took less time than I thought it might for the first session. Despite getting in a little late the party managed to explore some new places. Given how poorly most were rolling on their saves it is probably good the group got pulled out when they did.
