View Full Version : Agents of Edgewatch Release Date?
Endurance

Has there been a release date announced for the Agents of Edgewatch AP?
It is available already on Roll20 so I rolled the dice and started 2 campaigns of it this week on FG in the hopes it would come out on release date. No sign of it yet so wondering whether I should continue or switch them over to roll20 before I have to input the whole thing?
If it is a week or two away or something I can certainly manage but ooof I don't want to input all of it if I can help it.

I'd love to know as well, my group is planning to start an Agents of Edgewatch campaign as soon as Fantasy Grounds releases it.

This project has just landed in my lap for release. I can promise you only that I will shift gears to make sure this is completed at the highest quality as soon as possible. There's a process it has to go through, too, for final release, but rest assured, we'd love nothing than to have it in your hands in the nearest possible date. Unfortunately, we can't put any real definitive timeline to that eventuality.

I was quite surprised to see it released on Roll20 already, especially with Age of Ashes never being released there (Extinction Curse was, though).

Do you have a general sense of how long it should be? Are we talking days, weeks or months?
ShadeRaven
August 18th, 2020, 01:59
Not days. I promise you, we are working hard on getting the first one ready and it's quite a ways along now. However, even when it's complete, there's still a review process to go through which has no fixed timeframe and depends on a lot of factors. I wish I could be more specific, but it's just not possible.
On the bright side, the work going into the process of creating this first one will make the release of the future AP modules so much easier so the delay now will eventually results in much quicker turnaround in the next in the series and beyond.

I will say that this led me to taking my first crack at designing the module myself from the PDF and Fantasy Grounds is a genuine pleasure to work with, most of all with the drag and drop resources that SR has already provided us. My gratitude is immense for the work you did on that.
All that being said, my hacked together version will not be anywhere near as good as the one I look forward to purchasing, so please keep at it! Haha I know many folks who work for Paizo so if the review process gets bogged down I would be happy to beg and plead for an expedited process if needed. Assuming that is who needs to approve it.

I will start game-mastering AoA on September 14th (likely starting properly on 28th). Hoping to get my hands on the module in time to save some extra work. In any case, my money is already in your pocket.

Would it make sense to create a thread that shows the status of work on PF2 products, similar to this thread (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?57031-Paizo-Content-Status) about Starfinder?

I've thought about it, but I don't have clear visibility across all of the development team. SmiteWorks have a little better visibility, but traditionally don't do this type of thing. Plus, due to the "black hole" of the SmiteWorks/Paizo review, you'd never get confirmed release dates - so questions like those raised in this thread would still occur. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I just don't like spending time chasing down other developers (and SmiteWorks) to try to get even basic information to keep a thread vaguely up to date, time I'd rather spend on product development and community dev assistance. But, hey, I may end up doing it anyway, and just linking to it when people ask about products! I do like a good link... ;)

Since the list of "publishes" material will grow longer and longer and can easily be found in the store, maybe only list stuff that is not published yet?

I disagree; searching the store can be a bit of a pain, since you can only see so many products per page. Having a list that can easily be text searched for specific products is incredibly helpful, as is the organization Trenloe has put in where everything is grouped by category.
Much more convenient than searching the store.

Yeah. It'll definitely be put in as soon as I can get a little time to set it up. At the moment, I thought it would be a little more important to get the 2nd (and probably 3rd) of the series out ASAP to catch up to their release schedules.

I do not fully agree. The Player's Guide is needed for character creation and the series just began. So people are just starting to play the first part and need the PG to do so for the very specific backgrounds of this AP. The beginning of an AP should have part 1 + PG available before releasing later parts as the PG is an integral part of part 1.
One could say that #1 isn't finished yet, because it's missing what every AP begins with.

ShadeRaven was referring to doing LoS (FGU Line of Sight) later. He wasn't saying he's going to do the Player Guide later.
As mentioned on post #32 above, "It's being developed. Should be out relatively soon."

Stupid me then, albeit I am a bit torn whether having a fully developed part 1 (including LoS) would not be better than bringing out later parts first. I pondered whether to start this AP using Unity, but decided against it fearing too many potential pitfalls with two new FG players in this group. Without LoS there is no incentive to use Unity at all.
We substituted the missing backgrounds with other backgrounds and manual editing for the time being.

Valid points, Weiss, but there were a couple of factors going into my decision. First was that Unity, technically, is still in Early Access/Open Beta. It's possible that there will be adjustments before full release that could impact any of its features. Secondly, because the first is playable without LOS but the second isn't playable at all, it's important to get the product out for those who want a playable version. I'd love nothing better than to have LOS and all the released products for Agents of Edgewatch finished, but everything (unfortunately) takes time and I do my best to attend to what seems to be the higher impact/need items.

Another little sneak preview this time of the 2nd in the series. It's essentially finished, but I am pretty cautious about making sure I've double- and triple-checked everything to make sure all links, images, and details are on point. Expect it sooner rather than later, though! :)

Why are there no walls on the map or LoS?
They haven't been added. Only products in the FG store with the LoS graphic contain line of sight definitions. I know the converter is working on adding these to some maps, but I don't know if/when this would be updated to the product.

There are 2 MAJOR problems that I've found on a session yesterday (using FGU). There could be more, since I started using the module only on this chapter (and part of 3), but yesterday was basically the lower part of the Dreaming Palace, Chapter 4. SPOILERS AHEAD
1) The Shredskins are listed as IMMUNE to slashing, but it is exactly the opposite. They are immune to critical damage, EXCEPT when hit by slashing. Probably there is no automation for that, but the IMMUNE:slashing shouldn't be there, at least.
2) Pratchett's entry lists only the cane sheath attack, it is missing the blade proper.
I believe that the Pickled punks are also listing only one attack, but I am unsure of which one, since this only raised my eyebrows when I saw the immunity trait on the shredskins (a encounter which happens after the pickled punks). I mean, when I spend a fairly good amount of money on a professionally made module, I trust that everything is alright. If I have to double check something that, theoretically, is already double-checked, what is the point, right? I loved the automations, and the whole thing is a time saver, but really, really hoping that the second book comes a little better.
Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot! That's on me. The attacks are in there, but the format for having them displayed wasn't done correctly. Oops. You'd think after doing 600+ creatures, I'd be immune to human error, but apparently not. :p
I'll get it updated right away and Trenloe is aware of the immune issue which will be fixed eventually, but I think you've overstated the problem. On the Combat Tracker you'll see IMMUNE: critical, and that will correctly remove critical damage (but not the base damage). To solve the slashing problem, go into the effects of the creature(s) and remove IMMUNE: slashing entry and they'll be good to go. Not ideal, but it'll get you through until a more permanent fix addresses the problem.
Thanks for reporting! I appreciate finding these issues so that can be addressed. :)

There's a minor issue holding things up there, but the guide has been built. Once it's sorted out, it should be in everyone's hands who wants it soon after.
Also: I dove into LOS for Unity this weekend and completed all the maps for the first in the series. It should hit the test server this week and go live next week if all goes well. I am hoping I can do a quick turn-around on the second in the series and perhaps have both ready for next week's update, but at worst, for those playing on the Unity side that are interested in Line of Sight, they should be available soon and for all products going forward.

Worry not! I detected this pretty soon and removed the IMMUNE: slashing on the combat tracker. A little bummer that I had to do it 8 times (adjustment for more players) during combat, but it falls very short of having to do it 600+ times with annoying people complaining at every step of it.
Thanks for the effort and really looking forward for the next volumes and automations on every bestiary!

I believe the 2nd will come out this next Tuesday. Both the first and the second should also feature Line of Sight updates on all the maps. There are also a few minor fixes to those listed creatures that have additional attacks hidden from view.
Also, I submitted the Player's Guide today for review. Not sure if it got in under the wire in time for next week. It might make it in, too. :)
The second AP in the series has a very complex map that was a beast to add LOS to. GMs in Unity will see what I mean when they get to it. Unity is still in Beta, but will be interested in hearing from those who use LOS as to whether or not my "solution" worked for them.
Beyond that, keep giving feedback and enjoy!
