When I run FGU everything runs just fine. After I exit the program WMI Provider Host continues to use 30+ percent of my CPU until I reboot the machine. I do not see this behavior with any other programs.

Windows 10
Intel I5
32 GB ram
Plenty of drive space

Is this just me?

What o/s? How are you exiting FGU?

He mentioned Win10 in his initial message. I use the same and FG takes up A LOT of resources according to Task Manager. Shows I have two FG apps open and 18% of my CPU and even more from Memory. It's crazy. Does the same even after a hardboot.

Ok, my WMI Provider host never goes above 2.5% and really doesn't change with or without FGU running.

A quick Google indicates that this process running high is a common issue after upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10 (which I did) and may need to be repaired.
There are multiple hits on this, but if you would like, here are some (though I did not read them completely and so can not recommend any);

I'll give those a look. However, This machine came from the manufacturer with Win10 installed.

I did read a bit more. The HowToGeek article indicates how you can find out which process is causing WMI to 'run hot' and how to try to fix it. If it is FGU, then I'm sure the Devs would like to know as it is something they could do. But it also might indicate to you what other programs you are using that might have issues. Also, the articles show you how to restart just the process, so you don't have to restart your PC to clean this up.

STRANGE!! With windows running, I used services.msc to restart WMI prior to running FGU. This time, I did not see the problem I have been having since FGU first released. I guess it was maintaining handles in between restarts.

CPU now at 7%

I don't really understand why I had this behavior, but I'm glad it seems to have been resolved. Thanks for the tech assist.

If it repeats, try the HowToGeek method to find the process that is calling WMI. I'm sure the devs would want to know if it is FGU.

Glad you got this solved (at least for now).
