"Conflicted Copy" of most of my Rulesets

What does it mean when I try to create a new campaign, and the list of rulesets shows duplicates, one named as expected, and the other with the same name + "MacBook-Pro's.attlocal.net's conflicted copy"?

This sounds like you're using some for of active sync/backup application on your FG data. These are known it cause issues with data not being saved correctly, even getting corrupt. Don't have active sync/backup applications running against your FG live data. Do manual backups when FG isn't running.

To fix your issue. Disable the sync/backup application and then delete the files from <FG app data>\rulesets and then run an update. Get to <FG app data> by clicking the folder icon in the top right (FGC) or left (FGU) of the FG startup screen.
