PC Ship Crew assignment

My group is unable to assign PC's to crew slots on our ships. I have found the wiki that shows how this is done, but it seems to be missing the critical step of actually placing the PC on the crew location. Everything we have tried has done absolutely nothing. Help??

1. Place the ship on the party sheet (ship tab).

2. Drag the portraits from the upper right corner into a (random) initial assignment on the party sheet ship tab.

We've done #1 successfully; the ship is listed there with all available crew designations also listed.

But we seem to be completely unable to drag any player portrait onto the party sheet ship tab.

You say drag them from the upper RIGHT corner... but our player portraits are show in the upper LEFT corner, above the chat frame. Is there something I'm missing?

Nope, when we try to drop the token on anything on that tab nothing happens

That's what it looks like, it just won't let us drop our tokens. So nobody can get assigned.

How do we determine which version we are using? We launch it from Steam.

If you are using Steam it should be Classic.

Just to double-check: Is the GM dragging the portraits?

Edit: The initial assignment has to be from the GM I believe - though subsequently players can change the role on their ship tab.

We tried having the GM do it, and tried having the players do it. No luck either way.

Should we be trying to use the Unity version instead, or should the classic version suffice?

I would expect Classic to be more stable, so Unity likely won't help.

GM should work, see here: 38047

but maybe a weird bug (extensions, ...).

We tried doing exactly what is shown there, but literally nothing happens. Will have to look and try again I guess.

You might try typing up exactly the steps you are following, including exactly where you are dragging from and dropping to. Maybe you're starting/ending your drag from a position unexpected by the developer of the feature; or doing things in a different order.

Alternately, it might be worth zipping up and posting the campaign folder to see if people have the same issue with the campaign on another machine.

The gif posted by Stephan in post #10 shows exactly the same steps we are doing when trying to drag crew onto the ship.

I'm not the GM so I don't have anything to zip up and share, but I can post more details when we are able to try it again.

I've just tested this after ensuring I'm fully up to date on my client. The steps posted on the wiki and the .gif by stephen are correct. I had no issues adding characters to a ship after it was available on the partysheet. So I'm not sure what might be causing the issue you are running into. I would need more information or possibly see what was being done.

We are having the exact same issue here. Doing all the steps just as described and the gif looks like exactly what we are doing. No crew can be assigned.

We solved it for us.... We were simply not dropping on the exact spot we needed to. Seems like you have to be very precise with where you drop the tokens. Accidentally discovered by just dropping in random places until it worked!

Not really... like I said, accidentally discovered by just dropping like crazy until it worked. Once it works, the player can reassign at will from his/her own sheet.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Been trying but not getting it. Maybe if something lit up when it was in the right place or if the whole box was a valid target.....

I have noticed that you have to drop the icon pretty much dead center of that box under the role for that role or else it won't want to work.
