So, as part of testing, /die 1d20e2

no 2 or 1 was rolled, yet it ended after 19 rerolls.

Version? Ruleset? Extensions?

I see the same thing, 5e ruleset, 07-16-2020 version, Druid Wild Shapes and Roll For Initiative Addon extensions installed. 1d20e2 won't stop on a 2, just a 1 or if it hits 20 rolls total it stops. 1d20e1 stops on the first roll (so it looks like the number after e is not inclusive).

This is 1d20e2, a 2 was rolled but it kept going until it eventually hit 20 rolls. No 1s were ever rolled:
38011

Here's 1d20e1, stopped after 1 roll (rolled a 6):
38014

Disable your extension and see if it reproduces. Then identify which extension causes the problem and notify the extension developer in the extension thread.

I can reproduce it, 5e, no extensions, v. 2020-07-16 :)

The e2 states that is explodes on a roll of 2 or higher; so the roll should stop on a 1 only. If the explode value <= min value, then no explosion happens (i.e. "1d20e1") There is a built-in 20 reroll/explode maximum count to avoid endless loop possibilities.

Here's what I see in my CoreRPG campaign.

okay, that hits the 20 roll max...good to know that is in there...and yeah, I knew that the e2 was 2+ rolls again, I don't know why I said 1 or 2.

P.S. It would be nice to see a message that MAX RETRIES or something like that is displayed. Just noticed your image had that. I don't recall seeing that in 5e

Maybe it was smart enough to say..."hey stupid, you want an infinite roll? Here's your sign!" :)

It was! And stopping me from doing stupid things is always the right call. :)

I totally misunderstood the issue. Glad the rest of you knew what going on.
