Hi all,

Just a couple of very simple extensions to change the BRP character sheets for the RQ2 and RQ:Glorantha rulesets. Base stats autocalc based on your attributes.

Base requirements: BRP Ruleset available from the fantasy grounds store.

Have fun!!

Azaran.

There should be enough currently in this extension to play for the moment, just noting things down in the notes fields.

Bear in mind that this extension does not contain any data, for that you will need to purchase the rulebook and run the character creation yourself :)

Things I would like to do (lol roadmaps)
To allow damage to be aware of hit location to subtract armor and then flow on to limb hitpoints with the damage taken going to current wounds (this'll take a bit)
Passions Sheet

Huzzah! Well done Azaran.

I'll see if I can add a couple of tabs for rune affinities and family for RQG...

I need my Runequest fix!!

But thanks should go to Superteddy57 for updating BRP without which my extension wouldn't have been updated

I have asked permission from Chaosium before putting any extra functionality into this extension just to ensure i'm not in breach of copywrite :)

Should i get permission, I intend to add a family tab, to record the family history, and expand the ruleset to unclude rune points, and a specific tab for rune powers.

You dont need permission for anything mechanical like that. For including content you need permission.

cool, thanks Damned :)

I'll put in some updates for storing rune magic, the rune afinitiy skills later on today and general fixes later on today.

Smokebadger reported a skills issue (thanks mate) and i'll need to see if its the extension or the base ruleset. if its the latter i'll put a pm through to Superteddy57 :)

Beginner question here. The BRP doesnt seem to have hit locations built in. Is that a problem with chartacter sheets buit on it?

Hit locations are built into the BRP ruleset though I would point out a limitation that damage goes straight to the main hitpoint pool, isnt reduced by the armor points on a hit location and isnt applied to the limb hit. It's something i'm looking at automating in my extension.

Superteddy57 fixed the attack skill issue in the main tab of the character sheet :D

It was a slight issue with the implemented difficulty buttons on the desktop. The attack issue should be fixed and working as intended.

Azaran and superteddy57: thank you both. Really enjoying testing them out (I stumped up for BRP: its amazing Chaosium ignored it for so long; its incredibly versatile)

When I was upgrading M&M and BRP, both systems started to grow on me. Very streamlined and many possibilities. We are still looking for a dev to continue pushing the product forward and expand on the upgrade. So if your passionate about the ruleset and like to expand the ruleset, don't shy and PM me for details.

You know, I’d love to. But to be perfectly upfront I don’t have the skills.

Maybe in six months I’ll have a different response. My (late) dad did mainframe programming in the 60s and 70s. I doubt it’s an inheritable skill but live in hope 😊

If anyone is interested in developing a full implementation, or even working on a BRP extension and wants to talk to Chaosium I am in in daily contact with Michael, Jeff and Mike (I moderate the Call of Cthulhu Facebook group). Usually if you ask nicely they are delighted to help, and given we all want to promote online play right now I am fairly certain they would be very happy to help anyway then can! Many thanks to Azaran and Superteddy for their superb efforts; I just got my print copy of The Smoking Ruins so this is extraordinarily well timed! (And feel free to DM me anytime). The developers on this group are awesome

I'm an enormous fan of Chaosium since it moved under "new" management - which means back under a team of seasoned, creative role-players. Releases such as Reign of Terror, Berlin and Dark Ages are superb.

But I am still wondering why they are waiting on community enthusiasts to manage what should be a key property. If VTT is a huge growth are (and it is) shouldn't they be investing (i.e paying) in a digital/coding manager to look at their properties?

BRP is a premium priced piece of coding.

The developers here are brilliant, but I am not sure whether the mix of fan/semi-pro support should extend everywhere

I can't answer for Chaosium as I am not an employee but from another rpg company i have worked for i think most publishers lack any coders or knowledge to manage it. I am assume people licence the rights to create things like BRP -- it is not done in house afaik. If you can offer to design a professional product I am sure they would be happy to license it or maybe pay work for hire. Happy to put you in touch if interested.

The only reason to put me in touch is to say "really love your work"

Still, if I feel my coding is getting to the "more than functional" stage I'll let you know. A fantastic project

Oh, and I will say right now that I am ignorant of the layers of responsibility/ ownership regarding ruleset, so if i am talking bosh so be it

There are two products on here that were coded at professional rates and they were both expensive and not necessarily any better than those done by community devs.

The revenue from these products in a digital platform is still relatively small. Shockingly small on some products.

This really only happens when you have someone with the ability and the time and the passion for the project. The money you make is hobby money in most cases.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe at some time in the future, but i've got to be able to add a tab without ripping my hair out between xml and Lua lol...

Bonkon
April 18th, 2021, 21:51
Good Day Markus03 and Welcome :)
On the first post of download the files there (If you do not see them, make sure you are in FG Responsive in the lower left corner of the message boards). After you do that move the files into the Extensions folder of FG (Depending on if you have FGU or FGC click on the folder on the selection screen).
After doing that restart FG and Load Campaign.
There will be a list of extensions you can enable (In FGU it is the lower right, FGC is lower left).
Find the extension name and click the circle next to it and then press the Start button.
It should then load the extension. :)

help soo fast! Ty Bonkon!!

ok, that was easy. I kinda thought the result would be that I can choose now RQ in the Ruleset-Folder. But I understand the extension creats a RQ-Char sheet.
So what Ruleset do I choose, to work with this extension. Core-RPG?
And again ty, for the help!
Markus

Good Day Markus03 :)
I am not sure but I would imagine it would be either CoreRPG or MoreCore.

Sorry I could not be more helpful, but hopefully someone will come along that knows for sure :)

Post #1 says: "Base requirements: BRP Ruleset available from the fantasy grounds store."

This is the Basic Role Playing ruleset: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=CHA2020aFG2
