I see a huge drop in the number of posts today. I wonder how many have the counter running and are poised to be the first to download this.
who is watching the clock, hoping that it ends early, or is simply wathing the seconds slip by. I know I have a second screen open with the counter running. who else? This is almost like watching a Woot-off waiting for the next woot to come up after a Toaster!

OK - blame it on my age or being the wrong side of the Atlantic ... what the heck does that mean ! :o

I'm afraid I'll be at work when FGII is available ... enjoy Kimba, you'll beat me to it.:(

I have my doubts that the website will make the download available right when that timer expires. More likely, the devs will manually update the site sometime tomorrow to make it available.

The timer automatically turns into a link to the DL site when it expires, so it WILL be available when it runs down.

You guys don't know about www.Woot.com? the item per day website.
it was all the same metaphor.
a woot off is where they put multiple items on one after the other. No one wants a toaster so when they go up it takes a long time for the next item or "woot" to go up.

No I dont have any affiliation with them whatso ever.:o

It's just a link to the current downloads page, which has links right now for downloading the 1.05f patch. If they don't update the downloads page, that's all the Flash widget will point to when the timer expires.

Wow, that would be really anticlimatic if, at the point the timer expired, the box linked to a webpage that has been around for ages.

Its like, "webpage that has always been available will continue to be available in 3... 2... 1....!!!"

Perhaps there's a script that will rename the old and new page when the timer expires. And I'm just teasing now, but that would mean that the new page, and the new download, are already on the server. Just sitting there. Unseen. Juuuuust out of your reach. You could get it. If you only knew the name of the file. Teeheeheehee.

They've altered the download page a bit, removing the lengthy patch notes for 1.05f and noting that they plan to provide a demo of FG2 in the near future. :)

Oh, that makes me wonder: In the past, the download for the full version of FG was made available through the Store or via e-mail. If we assume that the same will be true for FG2, where should we look for the download link? Will it be placed on the downloads page, or will we get an e-mail about it, or will our Store order history links be updated automatically?

Another interesting bit, the Beta shows an update available, so I'm assuming it's on the server somewhere.

Looking at how many ppl are on the boards right now, I have a feeling the servers gonna feel the burn, hehe.:D

If I understand correctly, FG2 doesn't have separate downloads for trial, full and standard versions; when you put in a key, the updater application goes to the server and pulls down the files needed for the version the key is for. So there shouldn't be any need to "hide" the downloads anymore; if you have a key, it works, if not, you get the trial version - that simple.

Don't think so, I had the beta prior to getting the release version. I think that might have something to do with it. The only prob I've seen so far is stuff I've created using the beta version isn't showing up.

On the chance that a dev is reading this post, we should describe the problem to help him troubleshoot.

When I run updaterengine.exe in my FGII folder I get a message saying "Getting package listing" followed by "Done!"

Then, I press Done to close the window. On my desktop, there is a non-stylized default icon for FG2. When I double click that icon, windows cannot locate fantasygrounds.exe

Yeah there's some stuff about it on the support forum. They think it's a beta tester thing right now. That the program isn't used to non-beta keys

Haplo

There are no files that get installed in the FG2 folder (not to mention that the folder it imports is created in the start menu, no where else)..

The desktop shortcut not working properly is apparently a totally different issue. My desktop shortcut points to the right place - I didn't change the install directory, so if you did, maybe that's the issue - but I get the short short version of the update process.

Are you having problems with the updater or the program itself after the update? If the updater is not behaving, please run the installer itself again just to make sure the earlier problem isn't causing it.

All the data files (as opposed to the executables) are now under application data files on your profile (for compatibility with Vista among other reasons). Please make sure you put them there.

On XP, it's under [Drive letter]:\Documents and Settings\[Account name]\Application Data\Fantasy Grounds II. There should also be a start menu shortcut pointing there.

This should mean that the connection to the update server is ok and properly identifies your license. The problem is more likely to be in something related to writing the files on your disk. Which version of Windows are you running? Are you installing to the standard location under Program Files?
