View Full Version : Map Creation: Isometric or Top Down?

Hello all,

I'm in the process of writing a small D&D adventure that I'm considering publishing, probably on https://www.dmsguild.com (if it turns out any good!), and also here on FG. In the process I need to make a few battle maps. I'm wondering about the correct format for those maps.

Should I build them with cool 3D isometric stamps, or stick to 100% 2D, top-down battle maps?

Thanks for any advice or comments

2D top down since isometric maps are not supported in FGC.

I prefer top down.

Well done Isometric maps look great but top down maps are just so much easier to work with.

In general: Top down is probably easier to use at the moment, especially when one uses FGC; but I prefer isometric maps, and therefore I personally hope for more support for these in the future :) But also with support one needs assets to use, thence, why not be one of the first publishing adventures for isometric stuff? ;)

(But, honestly, use top down for the moment, I'd wait for better support of isometric grids in FGU at the moment)
