Ok, so I am trying to replace all the tokens from the monster manual with new top down tokens. What is the quickest way to do this? Right now I am opening the monster manual, opening a monster, then closing the MM module, opening a blank new group I created under "npcs", pasting it in there, and then adding the token once it is editable. This is insanely tedious and I am hoping someone has another option. Thanks.

There's no quick way to do it. Note also that any changes you make won't carry over into any other campaign, unless you are making a copy of every monster and exporting to a module.

Yep. The idea is to export it when done. Oh well. Thanks anyway.

I'm also unsure as to why the MM needs to be closed every time.

No need to close the MM module. Make copies of the creatures by dragging them within the same list. Then open the group drown down and drag the copied entries to the group you want them in.

I'll mention this so I can maybe save you some time and effort.

If you use the Encounter tool to set up combat, you can drag a token to the NPC in the encounter tool and it will replace the MM token for that encounter (all copies of that NPC). I had thought about doing what you're planning, and decided against it except with common creatures. Cuz I'm worried I'll accidentally reset the monster manual and have to do it all over again.

Well, he's copying the creatures into a campaign. Once he's done that he has a copy that is separate from the monster manual. He changes the token and exports a new creature module. I'm not sure how you think that is going to be reset. Reset to what, by what?

Being able to do this in an Encounter is really important also because you can run into an encounter say with a Doppelganger that you might need to ensure the token looks different than what is in the MM.

Good point.

Mostly he just loses the ability to automatically get updates. If errata comes out on a creature, or a typo in a creature stat is found and fixed, etc, your creatures won't be included.
