Just making the switch to FGU and I'm trying to figure out what I am missing. What is the point of using masks now with LOS on maps? If players can only see what LOS allows them to see, why do I need to make and reveal areas?

Also if I continue to use mask I think a great feature would be to allows us to mask an entire map and then let us pre-map reveal areas and then just use the controls on the right to hide / reveal those predefined areas.

Line of Sight isn't always appropriate. One example might be an overworld or city map. You may want to reveal a region, or district of a city. Token LoS doesn't make sense in this case, but masking allows you to hide and reveal map areas easily.

You can use LoS and masking together, to stop LoS from being infinite, or to hide something that's not seen even when within LoS, but I don't think that's as common.

The pre-defined mask areas is a nice idea. You should add it to the Wish List :)
