View Full Version : FGU Suddenly can't connect to 2E Campaign

Hello,

New User and first post (sorry for length). I have an ultimate license for FG Unity (one month old, on monthly subscription). I'm on Windows 10.

I’ve created a 2e cloud campaign for Tomb of Horrors (purchased), and have been successfully using it for a couple/few weeks now (prepping maps and getting characters set up). I logged into it as early as last night (and had a player (Demo) logged into it), but now when I try to open it today I get the following errors:

Can you please help me troubleshoot the above?

Of note,
• Neither the player nor I know what images the log is talking about above
• I did NOT purchase the 2e ruleset (we are actually running 1e using the hardcover rules – I didn’t realize the module was 2E when I bought it), so I don’t know why it’s trying to load that. This is a one-off so we don’t want to buy all the books we already have… if we like FG then we’ll likely try 5E and purchase the rules.
• I exited the game last night with a player still connected – I’ve Googled the issue and someone referenced that as a possible cause
• Both the player and I were updating Character Sheets (for the pregens that come with the module), and we don’t really know what we’re doing. I tried cutting and pasting from a pdf document to make notes, etc… so maybe I left a ‘-‘ as it seems to suggest in the log.

Anyway, please help me get this sorted out, as we are dead in the water and I don’t know how to get it going again. I thought of re-installing FGU, but I don’t want to lose all the work we’ve already done (ie LOS on the map, fixed characters, etc..). I have tried making a new 2E Campaign to start over, but still get the same error log.

I'm getting the same error, in both an ongoing campaign, and if I start a new 2E campaign. So it must be something from an update.

Turn off the advanced Security on your internet connection. See the sticky Comcast, Cox, Xfinity and Shaw users thread in the House of Healing.

Doesn't seem to be the case, I had Advanced Security off, turned it on, got the same error, checked for anything blocked, no dice. Also, other campaigns for different game systems work, (I tried 5th, PF2, 3.5) and it works fine from FGC, just have the issue with unity and 2E specifically. Also tried to create a new game with 2e, and get the same error.

Unload all modules, then exit and restart your campaign. Do not load any modules until the players are connected. Does that resolve?

Cant even get to the point to load/unload. it drops the connection before it logs fully in. But even with a fresh campaign with nothing added, it fails before it logs into the window. Although the server still shows up on the server list even though I am not connected to anything.

Those errors are related to code that should only be on the Test channel. Are you on the test channel? I'll ping JAmes in the meantime to check where it was pushed.

Is this only on 2E?
I am in a different Geo to you so different matchmaking server but I can load a 2E campaign on FGU.

Hi Celestian... I don't know how to tell if I'm on the Test Channel... I just tried to load the same campaign i've been working on for the last few weeks and all of a sudden I can't. And as steelpete says above I can't get to the table top where I can unload any modules; it just kicks me back to the campaign loader screen

hi damned, I just tried another Campaign as a test and now I get a message: "Unable to Check the Lobby Server" for any games I try to create or load.

I checked and it was already set to Live, but I re-ran the updater and same original error log which pushed me back to the Launch screen.

Is this only on 2E?
I am in a different Geo to you so different matchmaking server but I can load a 2E campaign on FGU.

It seems to be just the 2E... I was able to successfully Join the Sample 5E Campaign, and create another test campaign with CoreRPG ruleset.

Can you load the game in Local mode?

If you mean as a LAN server, I tried that and got the same error.

I've submitted a 2E ruleset update, specific to the FGU error and Moon has pushed it. It should be live now. Please update and try now.

So wondering if there's a different issue now (not sure if I need to create a new thread or not for this)... The game still works, but I noticed it looks different, and specifically the buttons are all gone from the right side (Characters, Story, etc...). Instead there are drop down menus above the chat window - I thought this was on purpose (maybe to give more room for the maps, etc...), but when I try to open anything from the drop down menus I get the following errors:

EDIT: ignore, indeed Celestian has been making changes to the 2E ruleset :)

This is not standard FG. Are you running an extension (such as the menu one Celestian is working on) or are you on the Test or Dev channel? Check your Settings from the FG Launch Window and make sure you are on "Live" and then run an update. The other channels should not be used unless you are instructed to do so as they often are for use by the developers for trying out prototype things with each other.

The menu system has changed in this build.

Thanks for reporting this. I need to hide those buttons because they serve no purpose when using drop down menus. You can directly access those menus from the drop downs through MENU, RECORDS and BOOKS. BOOKS is a new option that lists all reference manuals for the modules you have loaded. MENUS also added a direct jump to "Modules" menu.

Ok, thanks Celestian... I like the menus better because it gives more real estate on the tabletop for maps, etc... If I see anything else, I'll start a new thread. Cheers.
