I am trying to fire up my Starfinder server but my friend can't find it and I am getting this error. Please help.

What type of license do you own? And have you added the key into settings?

Try load the campaign LOCAL and unload all SFRPG mdules and then try to create your lobby server.

Yep, it’s a known issue with loading a bunch of the Starfinder modules in FGU.

RichterVonStreed
May 3rd, 2020, 15:18
It is an FGU Ultimate license and yes, i have the license key saved in settings. I will try playing around with loading/unloading modules and see if it works but last night he could not find our other campaign (that took forever to get him into) so I tried to create a new server to see if that would help after and all I had loaded was the core rulebook, core rulebook (player) so he could create his character, and the Incident at Absalom Station so i had some NPCs to throw at him while we tried to figure out how combat works.

I am confused. If I can't run three basic modules what is the point of even owning this?! Without the modules the product is pretty much useless. I understand this is still in beta but not being able to run a basic campaign and have players join is ridiculous. By beta it should at least be playable.

I totally agree that it's not good that there's currently an issue with some of the Starfinder DLC. Unfortunately, I've not seen a definitive post on how many/which modules cause an issue.

Until this is fixed, one thing I'd recommend - as the GM, only load the modules you're going to use. You don't need to load modules the player is going to use - just make sure they are allowed to open them.

damned
May 3rd, 2020, 16:02
Also load them AFTER the game table is up and UNLOAD them before exiting.
Again - not ideal but the issue has been noted and they are working on it.

Trenloe
May 3rd, 2020, 16:17
And, sorry, I wasn't clear with my earlier statement. I didn't mean that the modules couldn't be loaded *within* a session. The issue appears to be linked to having large modules load during startup of the campaign. During campaign startup, FG loads all modules that were opened at the end of the last session. And, it appears in this case, that it takes too long for some of the Starfinder modules and this creates the errors seen before.

Doing some testing. Note - I've removed my IP address below and replaced with xxxx.

Initial load - no modules loaded:

Then when opening Core rules, takes a while and the console shows that it lost connection during this time but did successfully recreate the lobby:

[5/3/2020 3:53:22 PM] [WARNING] Lost connection to matchmaking server : Unable to write data to the transport connection: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
.
[5/3/2020 3:53:22 PM] Match successfully created on lobby.

The same thing happened when I loaded the Core rules (players) module:

[5/3/2020 3:54:21 PM] [WARNING] Lost connection to matchmaking server : Unable to write data to the transport connection: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
.
[5/3/2020 3:54:21 PM] Match successfully created on lobby.

The above two lost connection/recreated lobby messages didn't appear when I loaded Dead Suns AP 1.

I then exited FG with Dead Suns Part 1, Core Rules and Core Rules (Players) loaded. Then restarted the campaign, and got the error reported at the beginning of this thread:

[5/3/2020 3:55:04 PM] FGU v4.0.0 ULTIMATE (2020-04-28)

So, I unloaded the Core rules (players) module and kept Dead Suns Part 1 and Core Rules loaded and exited and restarted. It loses connection but does recreate the lobby:

[5/3/2020 3:57:39 PM] FGU v4.0.0 ULTIMATE (2020-04-28)

I then tried starting with Dead Suns Part 1 and Core Rules (Players) loaded when the campaign last exited. It loses connection but does recreate the lobby:

Going back to the modules that caused the issue earlier (Dead Suns Part 1, Core Rules and Core Rules (Players) loaded):

And we get the error.

So, from the above post with all of the testing, 2 big modules (Core rulebook and Core rulebook (players)) plus one part of an AP produced the issue. Like I said in post #6, the GM shouldn't need to load the Core rulebook and Core rulebook (players) - these are both massive modules with thousands of XML data records. There appears to be a tipping point during the loading of a campaign with more than a couple of modules. So, as suggested, to avoid this issue (until it's fixed) the GM should unload their modules before exiting the previous session. If they forget, just load it up, unload modules, exit and then load up again.

Awesome. Thanks for taking time to look into this. We tried playing around with it last night and he was able to get in to the campaign after a few tries with loading/unloading modules and we successfully sparred with a quick map and encounter I cooked up. The issues are frustrating but I commend you all on your quick and helpful replies. Thank you.

Please use the Compile Logs button to bundle all of the logs and submit the zip file. You can find it by clicking the button in the upper left corner or by typing /console in the chat window.

I'm using FGU Standard.
43957
The pwd is far too long and i'm not connected.
I change the pwd and log
43958
I save and go back to settings and the pwd seems not to be right (too long)
43959
I start FGU and same error (unable to connect to the lobby server)
I tried to launch FGU in Lan mode, all modules are off (and i don't have my purchased modules in the list), then launch in Cloud and same error

Do you have any non-ascii characters in the name of the campaign? We had a user on the Discord server report a similar issue and that was the reason they could not connect.

The reason the password looks longer than you'd expect is because its hashed.

My savior ! That was it ! I just rename the name of the campaign and all is ok. Thanks a lot ;)
