This might seem a bit like a post in the eleventh hour but I am still working a bit on the olde ArsMagica ruleset and I have found a bit of a problem...

It is concerning wounds, which basically are stackable units in this system.
IE, you get a light wound and you get -1 on all totals for EACH such you have, a medium wound and you get -3 for each such. And it all tends to add up...

Now this, the adding up is the problem of course. XML isn't exactly made for maths.

I have a field for each kind of wound (and I have cleverly put the penalty / wound as a static numeric field on the charsheet, hiding it in plain sight) but then comes adding it all together...

... aaand... Nevermind.

Valuemaps work. *sighs*
... But I'd still want to see how to add a number to itself several times? Is there any way to do this without dummy values?

Dummy values are extremely useful in FG1. You can use the <invisible /> tag to hold an intermediate value without having it displayed anywhere.

Unfortunately, the "code" box you posted didn't display properly for me, so I can't see your example code. If you can repost it, there are a bunch of people (including me) around here who have fiddled with rulesets and can help you out.
