What is best practice for stabilized actors in CT?

An actor on the CT that has been stabilized (by a successful Medicine check, for example) remains on zero hit points but the CT will automatically roll a death save on its turn. I have been setting the HP to 1 and leaving an unconscious effect. Is that best practice or is there something I am missing?
