Campaign not loading characters

Help!

I ran an update to FG this morning before running my campaign. Now, my players can not load characters. In fact, all of the PCs and notes that were previously saved in the game are gone.

I do see the XML files from the last session in the data folder, but I can not see how to load that information.

Any assistance would be great!

In the campaign's folder there can be back up sessions stored (e.g. db.backup.1579890818.xml). You just need to change the db.xml to something like db.old.xml and then change one of the old back up sessions to db.xml. I'm assuming this is what you were asking.

Copy one of the backup or session files to db.xml - dont rename in case something is screwing them up.

This helped a ton!

I had to go back 2 sessions ago to copy, rename, etc for it to accept and load correctly.

Is there anything that can be proactively to ensure this doesnt happen again?

Don't put your FG Data on a cloud syncd folder? Don't host the same campaign in two active sessions of FG? Close FG using the right click close/exit command?

It all depends on why it happened in the first place and we don't know why.
