I currently have a copy of FGC standard and was looking to upgrade to an Ultimate version, but I'm having trouble deciding which route to go.

Since upgrading FGC to Ultimate costs $110 and FGU Ultimate is currently $130 the cost is the same either way, but how close is FGU to a usable product? I've heard FGU is fine to poke around in but people run into issues trying to run a campaign on it, but this is from posts made months ago and I can't seem to get a read on how the program runs currently. On the other hand I would hate to spend $100 to upgrade my classic version just to have to turn around and spend $90 to switch to Unity in a month's time.

April 4th there was an update to FGU that resolved most connection and networking problems. Right now, imo, the biggest 'play' inhibitor is that performance has not been optimized and sometimes when opening lists (like NPCs or Items, etc) FGU may hang for 30-90 seconds.

There are minor little issues (like right now roll totals are not shown, but results are still there) but my group is switching to it this week. We do/will have FGC to fall back on though if needed.

To me, it's just a matter of how tolerant you and your group will be. Also remember, SmiteWorks has a 30 day refund policy for anything bought through the FG Store (Steam has a 2 hour policy). So, you can try out FGU and if you aren't happy, then refund and get the FGC upgrade.

Do note, that they are pushing weekly updates to FGU as they resolve issues. So things are improving quickly.

Didn't know about the return policy. That helps. Thanks!
