View Full Version : Registering Skills to Weapons

Hi all,

Maybe I'm missing something, but how do I set the weapons in the 'Actions' tab to use the correct skills? For example, I have a Gauss Pistol that should use Gun Combat (slug), but there is no specific skill in the skill list for that, and if I rename a player's Gun Combat skill to Gun Combat (slug), nothing happens.. clearly I'm missing something (obvious perhaps!).

Hi.

The skill list doesn't have each sub-skill listed automatically. You are correct that it has to be edited. I usually drag the skill and append whatever (slug) for instance. I then drag the skill again to reflect the 0 skill for the other subs. Case should not matter.

It should work. If it doesn't, try deleting the weapon from inventory and action (I think it does it automatically now but just double check). Add the weapon again and it should have the correct skill.

Morning,

A weapon needs to be added after the skills are in place.

My current thinking with skills is to auto list as a dragable skill the skill and specialisation, ie 'Gun Combat (slug)', 'Gun Combat (energy)' and so on, just makes the skills list a lot longer but we're all ok with that aren't we?

Yea, need to solve that as Aslan have their natural claw attack.

I'll get something sorted for v1.1.1.

Also of note, if you have a modified weapon that has something like a laser site and gets a +1 to hit, there's no way to record that (or, is there?)

Morning,

Where does that coming from, saying you get +1 to the roll.

They get a DM +1 to their dice roll for targets under 50 meters distance (to clarify what I mean). However, this is more more of a permanent effect.

After I posted my initial question, I did notice there is a +1 Laser Sight modifier listed under the 'modifiers' button at the top/right, but its a bit annoying to constantly have to click it for every attack - a toggle or 'modifiers' field somewhere would be better perhaps, so you don't have to re-apply it for every attack. (like how +1 weapons work in dnd).

Hello,

You're correct that's what the Modifiers are for. If you need it more, drop it onto the Hotbar.

As we don't know what the distance is from one token to another I can't automate it.

MGT2 page 121.

Confused. MGT2E page 121 shows a list of energy weapons, do you mean page 128 (Weapon Options)

The chap above was talking about that Laser Sight. Checked my post on distances, so looking into it via Savage Worlds ruleset.

The chap above was talking about that Laser Sight. As you can't get the distance between tokens, it can't be automated. I'm hoping this changes in FGU.

I am on my Kindle so I had to load Adobe, look it up, switch back to browser and reload the page. During that time my brain took a long rest and I goofed up the page. :) I also edited when I realized it was resolved in later posts but I guess you were lurking around the corner and replied super fast. :)

Also isn't token distance automatically calculated by FG or is that a ruleset to ruleset implementation?

Fear not, I'm on my lunch break. Working on WOiN updates. Loving the coding task, rather than conversion and data entry! Due to the delay in this update (at FG's end, we're ready) I'm going to add all the specialised skills to the skills lists.

Oh yes and my brain is doing odd things due to being stuck indoors for what feels like forever!

I asked in the main workshop forum and got told there was no way in the ruleset scripting for you to be able to calculate the distance.
