View Full Version : Magic Item - Cloak of protection

Hello,

I am just starting out with FG. I have watched several videos on creating characters, effects, etc, and I am very excited about FG. However, magic item properties/effects are not applied automatically. The cloak of protection is a good example. The cloak should provide a +1 to AC and saving throws. Just equipping it on your character sheet does not add the AC and saving throws. How does one add those properties so that they are always on when equipped?

Adding an 'Effect Features' with AC: 1;SAVE: 1 ( or just AC: 1 for that matter) on the item in the inventory screen doesn't appear to have any impact.

FG doesn't really allow you to make items do things unless they are weapons or armor.

The best work around is to create a spell like effect in the action tab that allows the player to apply the effect to self without a duration. This will apply it to the character in the combat tracker. I'm not at my PC or I'd give specific steps. Hopefully this points in the right direction.

Indeed; magic items are too complex for effect to be automatically created for them all so you have to create them yourself. Thank you. The videos are very helpful. I have setup an effect for this and it works.

I am curious though, what would one use the 'Effect Features' of an item for? I have seen it used to identify 'Properties' like Magic, but does it have any other usefulness? It isn't described in the Item section of the documentation, unless I missed it.
