Is there a way players can give each other items (such as potions) in this ruleset. I'd like players to be able to do it themselves but the only way i can seem to do it is if I as a GM open both characters sheets and drag the items myself

Thanks

The party management sheet - there is an inventory tab - players can drag items from them to the party inventory - the other players can drag items from the party inventory to their own sheet.

Make sure you enable the option for players to see the inventory in the party sheet.

If you don't mind facilitating the trade as the GM, you can also drag items directly from one player's inventory to another.

Is there a way for players to trade items without using the party sheet as an intermediary or involving the GM at this point?

Not in the base ruleset. I'm not sure if there's an extension that may facilitate this though.

Wait, can't one player drag the item to chat and then the other player drag the item from chat to their inventory?

That definitely works in my campaign, but maybe it's a feature added by one of the extensions I use and I didn't realize...

Amazing. This works! A million thanks!

Using the chat window is still a 2-step process, similar to using the party sheet. There's also a gotcha with using the chat window - if the PC who links the item has more than one item, it's possible for other PCs to take more than one by dragging the link in chat multiple times; the link in chat doesn't disappear when used, it'll stay there so the party won't know how many are left, or an unscrupulous PC could take more items than intended. Whereas the party sheet shows how many items are available and decrements for all to see as items are taken. Go with what works for you, with the understanding of the gotchas.

Thank you. I think I would have reached that conclusion on Monday with everyone connected.

I have no worries about intentional unscrupulousness, so just the fact that chat is open all the time and the party sheet takes forever to open and has a ton of items in it, this is probably favorable.

It does seem kind of crazy that there isn't basic functionality for players to trade items in one action. Maybe there should be GM controls to turn this off if needed (like token lock... require approval), or at least always see a GM-only or public message when it happens.

Check to see if this is in the feature request list and add it in if it's not.

Strangely, this has not been my experience. I've tried to do this intentionally a few times (one person had multiple copies of an item and wanted to share it with multiple other PCs). My experience has been that the first person who drags the link to the inventory gets 1 of the item, but if another person tries with the same link, it moves 0 of the item (i.e., doesn't move it at all but creates a chat message saying 0 items have been moved). The person who has the items ends up having to drag another copy of the link to chat for another person to take another item.

This could be an extension issue or something that was a temporarily problem on the test channel, though, as I haven't tried in a bit. I'll see if I can replicate next time I'm running game.

Interesting. I'll test it more thoroughly in our next live session.

There might have been a record lock for the transfer of items... Holding shift will allow an entire stack instead of one at a time. I know that sometimes extensions do cause odd behaviors and such. Tracking that down can be tough if one uses more than a few at a time.

I like the Party Sheet method because it creates a record of the transactions, and I don't normally need to intervene with trade between players. I used to bring up the table and let players login throughout a given non game day or our before to trade and place items up for grabs or sale.
