If you add and then equip armor to a character, is it supposed to automatically be added? Mine's not...

On the Combat Tab you need to add the AC bonus in there manually.

No with C & C it does not. You have to enter that yourself on the character sheet as the ruleset is not completely automated. Also, remember shields work like older editions of D & D as well. Instead of altering your overall AC, it only applies to enemies you're facing and the size of the shield affects how many enemies it affects. ( small shields give a bonus against one opponent, medium against 2 and large against 3). Of course, you can always house rule that out and just let the PC get the AC bonus like later editions of D &D.
