Newbie question, How do you auto place encounter tokens from an adventure onto the map. We run combat outside of FG and I have been just dropping the tokens on the map. But I think there is a way to auto place them.

BTW - Sorry for all the questions, love the software, but it can be a little overwhelming at times to find all the "bells and whistles".

Thank you!

Once you have created your encounter drag the tokens from below the line that shows the creature name from the encounter onto the map that you want to place the encounter on (the tokens will turn into a tick icon to show they have been placed). Then close the encounter. When you are ready to place the encounter open it and click the button at the bottom left to add the encounter to the CT and the map. More info here (although a little outdated) https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Encounters

Check out FantasyGroundsCollege.net, they have lots of free instructor led classes and other resources that will help you learn all the basics and more advanced things FG can do. Also don't forget the user manual. Don't try to learn it all alone :)

FYI - I am using the new Pathfinder adventure path. I clicked the button and it does open up the CT but I don't see the tokens on the map.

They probably are placed on a map different than you are expecting. Double click on the token portrait from the Combat TRacker. That will open the map the token is on.

Usually their are two maps, a GM map and a player/combat map. Tokens are usually placed on the player map.

I think I found it. You can't use the the GM maps, just the player's map. Cool. Thank you everyone for your help.

The GM map generally contains information which only the GM should know, such as room numbers the position of secret doors and traps etc. The players map will be expunged of such things and will also have a grid on them and those are the ones used for the actual combats, movement etc.
