I'm seeing issues with CoreRPG calls, try disabling the theme and see if that fixes the issues. Are you having issues in any other rulesets?

Morik
July 19th, 2025, 21:31
Yes. WFRP 4th ed
Though this seems to be a problem in one of the fields.

Morik

Theme disabled. Same issue.64897

Thank you for mentioning Compiling the log. I've been overlooking that button for 10 years. I wondered how to help you guys read the whole thing.

Pushed a fix to LIVE to address this. It should remove the error with the dice area.

Hi Everyone.
I know I have been radio silent, but I am currently working on some missing features in the ruleset. It may take some time but I want to add the last part of specializations, and then we can think of some small automations.

I am also merging all fixes done here (thank you so much!) to my code repository, I wanna make sure I dont accidentally remove any features from the rulesets.
After that I really need to record a video showcasing the rulesets, I know there are some features people may not even be aware exist :)

I will also update the start message on this thread with my contact info, so people can find me easier. The best way is to send me a message on discord!

I have the old version of this installed. I looked at the google docs page and it seems the paks there are from 2023 and earlier. While i realize you don't want to put text from the books in the ruleset, I don't see any specializations under the specialization tab which shouldn't be a copyright issue or force powers or special abilities. Are there newer files that i am missing? Also, any thought of reaching out to EDGE to get approval for an official version for FGU?

Absolutely fantastic implimentation, thanks for all the hard work! I so have a couple suggestions:

An option for single click dice additions from the tray
One of my players can't use a mouse and their trackpad makes double clicking awkward, while most places do single clicks for adding dice to the pool the big dice in the main tray require a double click. If there was a way to use single clicks for all the dice adding/removing it'd be a big help!

Adding the force power box options to the specialisations
This may be my lack of understanding as I haven't played much of the system, and even then not in a long time, so if I just don't get it I apologise. Going through homebrew for Genesys (which I understood to be half the point of the system) I see a lot of specialisation trees with paths disabled or shortened rather than using the full grid. Would it be possible to add the hide and delete buttons from force powers to the specialisation sheet too?

Cheers!

If you are using Fantasy Grounds Unity (and you probably should) do not install the rulesets using the old .pak files from google drive, install from The Forge instead. Links are in the beginning of this thread.

I have not updated the module libraries for some time. I am still working on adding specializations to Star Wars and after that I do want to update those libraries and add missing records.

Now for an official ruleset? That would be great but I have not yet tried to contact Edge, and seriously not sure if they would do something specially star wars related, but I can try

Thanks, I am making a note here, and I always check all suggestions.
I know its been a while since I updated and added features, but I am working on the rulesets and will have something in the coming months and maybe more regular updates after that.

Hey. Thats good. i Have done some work for my self. I repaired the star wars theme. so its working. I have written in most of the talents in the edge of the empire modules in the specialisation trees.
only two addons are missing (No Disintegrations and Special Modification) i have written an extension that put an entry for a vehicle in the combat tracker an trhen u can drag and drop the Vehicle as a token on a map. Targeting is functional only the correct damage redirecting is a little bit tricky. so if you need some support/aid or exchanging experinece....

Glad to hear from you Johniba!

A general question: Is it possible to prevent the increasing/decreasing of skill ranks when you click on the displayed dice pool? It is annoying that my players keep accidentally increasing their skill rank when they click left of the dice symbol.

When I roll a dice pool the result that shows up in the chat box show the results in terms of Genesys dice faces, but those are overwritten with the number of the original die (for example, it'll show a purple die with a threat symbol, but there will be a white "4" over top of it). Is there any way to turn those numbers off so that we only see the Genesys dice faces?

Also, I've been making my own custom ruleset combining the Genesys rules with my own content... I was wondering if there was a way to export something that merged everything I have put together into something else and have it so that my players only need to have THAT ruleset open when playing in this campaign (to avoid having repeated entries popping up, which is what's currently happening)

Hi. Yes sorry for the lack of communication. I have been checking the latest updates and seeing what I need to keep the rule sets updated, and of course to add more features

I will also provide some ways to contact me in case someone needs to report bugs or want to talk about feedback

Yes you ca. Actually do that, FG has a way for you to “import” a Ruleset
Download the Star Wars Ruleset and check the code
You will see how I do exactly what you mention, as the Star Wars Ruleset uses genesis for almost everything except for Star Wars features

Vehicles in Genesys and star wars needs work. If you try to open them, on character and npc sheets, you get a grey box and errors.

A few alignment errors (Characteristics), mostly in star wars could be fixed. Numbers don't align properly with graphics - as far as I recall.

Mostly it works just fine, and I use it A LOT and love it!

HEY Sorry for my radio silence.... Let me check and fix this
I will need a few days and will make sure to fix.

There were a lot of recent updates and it may be catching up on the ruleset.

Quick update: I am working on the player vehicle sheet first, I want to have it working, will publish as soon as I can, and then I will review all the rest of the code

Since I was away, a lot of fixes and updates have been done to the rulesets by smiteworks (I cannot thank them enough for this) and I want to take the oportunity to learn what they did, so I can:
- keep doing the best way I can, follow their practices to keep a good code
- make sure to review everything to see that no code was removed that maybe controls some specific features from the rulesets

After I review all of this, I will resume working on the missing specialization for star wars, and will work on other stuff

I also want to record a youtube video showcasing all features from the rulesets, something I have been postponing for years

I have fixed the issue with opening the character vehicle sheet, but I just found another issue:
Shared vehicles, when you enter them, they do not get the vehicle stats

So this may take me a couple of days, but I will make sure to make it available when it is done, and before I start working on other small fixes that I noticed, need to be done

I have just fixed the error with the vehicles window. There are still a few issues:
- the pilot skill dice is not working
- dropping critical damage in the current vehicle shows a duplicate result on the screen. That is a visual issue (it is still adding the critical only once) but I will fix in the next few days

I am making notes on several small issues, and will also work on the ones you mentioned.

If you or anyone else finds any issues let me know.

I have request:

Would it be terribly hard to port the Planetary Records from Star Wars to Genesys? I am working on a non-Star Wars space game, and was considering how to organize planets and systems. Not terribly important, but useful.

And yes. The vehicle error is gone. Thanks!

Thanks! It is good to be back and finally have time already to look at the rulesets. I love working on them and knowing it is useful to a lot of people

I am currently checking some small issues, fixing them, making sure all features are working.

I really want to record a video explaining all features in the rulesets as I feel some are quite hidden and maybe most people dont even know they exist.

Hi Dungach

I have to check we have modules for each of the Star Wars "branches" of books in a google drive repository, but I am not sure if it is complete with the specialization trees.
I will check, maybe we can talk later on updating, maintaining those, the help surely would be appreciated.

In regards to the extensions you created for the vehicle in the combat tracker, I would be very interested to check, and maybe if you would agree, add to the main ruleset code?
About the theme update, I also have the theme on google drive, so again, maybe if you would like to share that one we can put there.

Lets see if we can talk more later, it would be great to have some help yes

NEW RELEASE!
Version 2026-05-24

Unless mentioned, the fix or improvement is for both Genesys and Star Wars.

Fixes:
- Fixed Character Sheet and NPC Sheet Vehicle tab: clicking the Control Skill dice icon will now properly fill the dice pool
- Fixed in Party Sheet -> Main: Modifiers (under characteristics) and also Wound and Strain modifiers are working again now. Reminder: these are visual reminders of the modifiers on the party sheet and character sheet. They are not automatically evaluated or calculated.
- Character and NPC Sheets -> Skills -> clicking the dice icons will no longer change the skill. You now have to enable Edit mode in that page, to unlock and edit the skills

Improvements:
- Changed all buttons showing dice rolls from the gray icon to a new, more visible icon
- Character and NPC Current Vehicle: I have made the list of Critical Damage to the current vehicle Read Only. In order to Remove Critical Damage, click the Red icon displayed on top of the list and follow instructions. This is a workaround until I can make them editable in the tab you have the current vehicle on.
- Changed icon for "Exit Vehicle" in the vehicle tab on pcs and npcs to a more visible icon.

Known Issue:
1) If you use the Star Wars theme extension (provided in our google drive): I did not update it yet.
If you have any errors or missing icons, for now please disable this extension. I will fix it soon and let everyone know in the forum thread later when available.

NEW Features:

How to download the new version:

You can subscribe to both rulesets in FG Forge. This will ensure that they are automatically downloaded whenever I upload a new version.
(P.S.: everytime I upload a new version here in the forums, it may take a few hours for it to show up in Forge, as it requires Moderators to approve)
(P.S.: If you have already done this before, you only need to click "Check for Updates" in FG Unity, and the download will start)

To subscribe and download the rulesets, follow the links:
Genesys: https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/143/view
Star Wars: https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/159/view
(Remember, if you want to use the Star Wars ruleset, make sure to subscribe/download BOTH)

Attention FG Classic users
This update is NOT compatible with FG Classic
I can no longer maintain the code in a way that it works with the old client, I am sorry
You can use an older version of the rulesets, downloading from the google drive link below

Modules and other extensions need to be downloaded from the above link below
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1UNyE7f7qbI5It8cCHmoEoWSoSeVhWxR-?usp=sharing

Subscribe/Download the Genesys ruleset even if you are playing Star Wars

The nice thing about those icons is that they are using the same assest from official FG Themes. I tested a few of those available to download with official rulesets and some on FG Forge and they work
Not all of them (one had some issues in the party sheet)

Vires Animi

I was thinking here on the best way to do this.

Let me know what you think about this idea:

Instead of creating a specific Database for Planets, maybe I could use the one that exists from Core, called Locations

So imagine like this: if you create a new record and Type is Planet, it would show all those fields I created for the Planet database

What I think is we could even expand the idea further, having all sorts of types of locations with special fields

Later, I would convert the star wars ruleset to use that also, and move all existing records from the star wars specific planets database into that

I was thinking it would even allow for other stuff, like sub-locations in the planet.. maybe even solar system records pointing to planets pointing to locations in planets.....

viresanimi
May 24th, 2026, 16:50
I think that is a great idea!!

Perhaps there was a way to make solar systems as a location, and a way to link to individual planetary records then. That would be awesome.

EDIT.... I clearly missed the last sentence... he he
