Yes it does. See the latest Kickstarter update from I think Dec 21st.

Check that you don't have too much shared, and that your or your players router doesn't have excessive flood protection enabled.

Does it only happen with one player? Does it work with others? Do you have Comcast or AT&T as your ISP?

My friends and I are also having this issue... One has paid version, five have demo, and from what we understood, the demo versions were supposed to connect to the paid editions?

Yes, assuming the host has a paid Ultimate license. If they have a standard, then only 1 demo/free player will be able to connect and they will not be able to save what they do. Also note that all Free/Demo players must have forum accounts and have it entered in the FGU settings.

Was this issue resolved? If so, what was the solution?

I am also experiencing the same issue. GM has the ultimate license, 2 players have demo version, and one has standard. All users are stuck on "acquiring file list". I am on the same network as GM, others are not. Doesn't appear to be a network issue. Is this something on FG's end or is there some setting I'm missing? GM has Mac, I know that was an issue in previous iterations.

same for me. ultimate license on one pc, demo on another. can't get past "acquiring file list." 'PlayerName' connected messages appear in chat on GM instance.

Make sure you have updated since ~2200 UTC Tuesday 3/24.
Please also make sure your players have a forum account and have entered it correctly in their settings.
Then please list what type of connection you were trying (cloud, private, etc), when (date & time), and your license type as well as your player's license type(s).
Then please include your and your player's console.log files.

OK, so it does eventually work, it just takes several minutes (up to 15 minutes in one case). We are using a public server in the lobby. I'm thinking there's just a lot of traffic right now and the system's not used to it?

Moon Wizard did say that there are something like 10,000 new users on the forums this week. No idea how many players/GMs or games that translates to, but has to be a lot.

The forum software is preventing me from replying. it keeps telling me "Post denied. New posts are limited by number of URLs it may contain and checked if it doesn't contain forbidden words."

For anyone stuck on Acquiring File List issue, please make sure that everyone in your group has updated FGU to the latest version (2020-03-24, as of this post). We are in quite a bit of flux, as we attempt to nail down networking issues and we're working hard to figure out how to solve them. Keeping on the latest version helps us know whether we're moving in the right direction.

We are having this issue as well. I just downloaded updates, my DM has Unity ultimate monthly subscription, my settings have my account info. Using cloud public entered password etc. The Acquiring File List frame doesnt show any progress after 10+ minutes.

Given the state of the Unity client I recommend that everyone press update before they launch their client and attempt to connect even the DM. I know i am just a neophyte here but this happened to us and cleared up yesterday after our clients updated yesterday. Good luck!

Very good advice. As of last night (for me) there had been 4 updates to FGU in less than 2 days.

Remember, this is beta software and is being updated frequently, so always update :)

We had exactly the same issue. Demo account players were stuck on "acquiring file list" and couldn't join even though they were displayed as connected in the GM account. One exception: I (the GM) joined the session with another demo account from within the same wireless network. This worked without incident. The logs are below:

I just pushed a build today (about an hour ago) which should help reduce this sort of situation, while we continue to investigate the root cause.

I had this exact same issue which I have managed to resolve as follows.

On my computer I had both the original and the Unity versions of Fantasy Grounds. I uninstalled the original version and then the Unity version connected without any issues at all. As a player I have no port forwarding. I run Zonealarm and, after accepting that Fantasy Grounds required internet access, it has worked fine.

Hope that this helps.

I'm facing this exact issue but it doesn't seem like a solution was found in this thread. Any advice. Thanks! Running Catalina with Ultimate and trying to connect demo players.

I posted a possible solution just three minutes before you posted this.

I've been running into the same problem all day. I haven't been able to connect from a demo player outside my network using the cloud, or inside my LAN wifi. In each instance, they get stuck on the "Acquiring File List" screen and it never moves. This is even before I had Fantasy Grounds Classic installed (which I decided I might want to try switching to now if it will have less of these problems).

Out of curiosity, did you uninstall it from the connecting computer or the host GM computer? Because this happened to me when neither player had the classic version installed. I decided to install it now, but that's only because the unity version keeps breaking and I wanted to see if it would work with Classic (which I'm not having luck with either, I've been having issues trying to forward ports on my google wifi but that's a separate issue).

EDIT: So, quick update. I was able to have a player load in after I removed every player-facing module from allowing player loading. Also, it was through private LAN. It's not super helpful, though, as I would like players to be able to use the books I bought to help them make characters if I'm ever able to start a campaign in this thing.

Please can you uninstall or delete the executables and then download the newest build and retest? Players should also do the same. I can test with you if you like.

Hello,

I had the same issues with one Test Client trying to connect to my "ultimate" server. Corresponding to you advice I downloaded the newest package from this site an reinstalled it. But since 2 h it is not possible to update my version (Settings with correct password check). I got the message during the update process: "Error request time out, Retrying in 10 sec". A restart of my Laptop did not help.

It worked on my computer great (exept one client who tried to connect and it does not work), before I installed the newest downloaded version today.

Please help me out, because I spent a lot to play DnD 5e with my friends remotely and we would like to try and create our charakters.

On another computer I was able to install and update the new Version but on my Laptop is the server accounted version.

So you can install and run on Computer B but not Computer A?
Are these computers connected to the same network?
If so it seems like maybe there is antivirus or other security software that is preventing the update?

Thank you for the quick answer on saturday!

The other computer is not in the same network, I accessed it remotely via team viewer.

Firewall is deactivated. I switched from wlan to cable without any success.

Hi,

I'm from Germany an my ISP is M-Net if I ping patch.fantasygrounds.com:

It is responding with ~127 ms Latency. Any other hints? As I said it worked fine on this Computer unitl I installed the new downloaded version.

Its like this after all the tries. All updates broke down after a short amount of time, it is counting the MBytes and after 2 up to 5 MBytes it is stopping. I also tried another account (Windows) on this laptop but it did not help. Tonight 5 Players want to create their characters and the server is not running. Anything else I can do?

I also tried to install it from scratch and gave the installer a new folder for Data but it is *wait for it* not working.

Maybe it is something with undeleted registry entries which have not been deleted after uninstall routine?

What happens if you install to the default location?

Elminster the White
March 28th, 2020, 16:30
The same. I deleted the data and app folder (with uninstall routine and manually). I installed with local admin in local admin user folder (default).

It is not working. Why it worked at least at my laptop with the old download? Its a bit frustrating.

Hello,

it is not working I canceled my character creation session. It is mysterious that my licence key is still correct in the settings of the updater but I deleted everything and reinstalled it.

Will you upload the older installer or a correction? Any other recommendation?

For any connection-specific issues (i.e. connecting players to GM games), please see this thread for what we need to help figure these out:

For any installer-specific or updater-specific issues, please post in this thread:

I'm going to close this thread for now, because it has become mixed between several different issues.
