After pressing the NE pointing arrow on the image window frame, once or twice to expand the image to take up most of the screen.
Large images (tested with roughly 5000x5000+ pixel images), that will scroll and zoom in and out fast, perfectly and smoothly in the regular image viewing size.
Will respond to the similar commands very slowly or stuttering like, after expanding. For 20-30 seconds, before becoming similarly responsive again.
