Steam Launcher Won't Work

HALP! It is telling me that the side by side configuration is incorrect and telling me to run a command line somewhere for more detail. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail, and restarting my computer. Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?

Welcome, sorry you are having problems. No idea, please post screen shots or exact error messages you are receiving, plus info on your environment (o/s etc)

BUT, if you are on Windows or Mac, you do not need to install via Steam. Just download and install from the homepage link to Downloads. Then sync your Steam account per the FAQ so you get any Steam purchased DLC.

Im pretty sure this is related to another windows component being missing or damaged.
