Hm... I'm not sure about how asking this.

The thing is: seeing some good FG products released by Digital Adventures (rulesets as Arcana Evolved's and supplements, Iron Heroes's... etc) I wonder if would be possible to wait for an official Midnight Campaign Setting ruleset?

You know, Midnight (https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/midnight.html) from Fantasy Flight Games.

Months ago a friend mine and me tried a small modification of the basic d20 FG ruleset (really only a part of the character sheet and background images) for suiting it a bit more for this setting (for instance, the character sheet needed to calculate or show spell points instead spell slots), but changes were very basic and despite it hard to do.

I think such thing accomplished by Digital Adventures people would be much better ;)

If it matters, I would be interested.

These are some screenshots from our babbling attempt:

Hmm, looking on thier site, I see the 256 page hardcover is only $5.00. Might have to pick that up :D

Careful - that could be the 1st Edition :S the 2nd Edition is like $50 (both hardcover AND pdf)...

While the setting is REALLY REALLY cool - imo its hard to justify that price for a 256pg book...

Well I'd be picking it up for the flavor not the crunchy stuff, so a 1st print would be good for me. ;)

The basic Midnight campaign setting (2e) hardcover (or PDF) is almost 400 pages (396 or so... I don't remember exactly).

This second edition includes more background and also setting material published in Against the Shadow (1e). It is not too much crunchy IMHO.

But yeah, the PDF ebook costs the same as the real book :dead:

Anything happened with the Midnight Ruleset?

Nothing happened. The proyect was discontinued some time before posting this thread, and Digital Adventures didn't work in it later.

I hope someone can to do a working ruleset for FG2 about this Campaign Setting. At best, perhaps some files of our own attempt could be useful, but not many.

Cheers!

I actually purchased FG2 to make a ruleset for Midnight, as the people I normally campaign with are scattered all about and regular game schedules can be difficult; but I've had difficult enough time just finding where the folders the 'tutorial' talks about are - let alone figuring out how to modify them for the Midnight world (I eventually found them, but they were unpaked somewhere on the C: drive, not anywhere near my Fantasy Grounds folder) . I haven't really used HTML or stuff like that since the early 90's, if anyone has been tinkering around with Midnight and has any advice on it I'd appricaite the help.

orient45, I'm not familiar with the Midnight rules. But if you just want to start playing - you probably could just use the "Generic Character Sheet" ruleset Toadwart just converted over to FG2 here (https://dev.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showpost.php?p=44062&postcount=3).

The data for FG2 is put in different places depending on what version of Windows you have. Regardless of you OS you can find the data folders and where the default d20 rulset was unpacked by pressing the Windows start button and selecting Fantasy Ground II. When you open that up you should see something called Data Application Folder. Click on that to open up a window to where FG2 ruleset and campaign data is.

Midnight is d20 based, so really, modifying the base ruleset to work with Midnight shouldn't be too hard. I think the biggest change will be the character sheet, and spells...the character sheet is beyond my capabilities (aside from renaming a few things).

But it would be easy enough to get the SRD Midnight (iirc, FFG has release some infor as SRD material, tho I could be wrong as that was some time ago) info in using modules...that's the easy part :D

I have not yet purchases FG2 (so i might not know what I'm talking about), but yhea I'm not too worried about entering the Midnight SRD into the ruleset. That'll be the "easy" part. Also, to help with that we have the excellent Darkness Falls (https://darknessfalls.leaderdesslok.com/) to help. Sure a lot of copy pasting, but still possible.

As you said Kalan, the biggest challenge will be making a nice sheet. But I'll have to wait till i purchase FG2 before i think about that...

Yes, this sheet seems useful for other game systems too. Thanks!
