Hello all!

My brother is trying to set up a 5E campaign for a group of friends so we can trade off an on DMing. Configuring my firewall and port forwarding on my system was a cake walk but he has a Verizon Smarthub he uses for internet. I followed the same steps to log into the Smarthub and set up port forwarding and set the firewall to its lowest settings and then shut his windows firewall off altogether in case that was the issue. We are still having zero luck in connecting to him and I am out of ideas. The test also fails when trying it from the launcher and when he looked at canyouseemy.org it acts as if the port isnt opened. Not sure where we might be going wrong but if anyone has used this Smarthub thing before or found a way to connect to it we would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks guys.

Make sure the network is set to private and that there is a rule in place in his antivirus software.

Double checked. Network was private and no antivirus in the way. We went ahead and downloaded himatchi on his system and got him up and running that way.

Wireless (cellphone network) hosting is always going to be problematic as the public IP address can change fairly regularly (maybe a few times during a gaming session). I don't know if Hamachi would help this with a quick re-connection when the GM IP address changes. See how it works for you. But if the players disconnect it may be a case of restarting the Hamachi session to re-sync the new GM IP address if Hamachi doesn't automatically do this.

Hamachi will hanle this pretty well. You will likely see some pauses/lags but it should be pretty usable.
