5E ruleset, No extensions, Fresh Campaign, PHB loaded, fresh character.
I've found that if you add spells to a character, then toggle the "Mode" button, once you get past combat no spells are shown. Meaning even in Prep or Standard mode after going into Combat the spells are no longer visible.
In prep-mode.

In combat mode (no spells show since I did not prep anything)

Standard mode (should list spells prepped and unprepped, it does not)

Back to prep mode and you also see no spells.

The same thing happens in the AD&D ruleset (which is why I went to check the 5E one also). This appears to be one of those FGC/FGU functional differences.
