View Full Version : Tiny tokens scaling up to medium

I can't seem to figure out how to automate the process of placing tiny tokens on the map without them completely filling a 5ft square. I have autoscaling set to off. I've tried messing with their size and reach as well. These are book creatures taken directly from the program such as crawling claw, black cat, etc. So their description is set to tiny. It seems to work just fine with larger creatures though.

I know the trick of holding down ctrl and using the scroll wheel to resize them. But that slows everything down when I'm trying to setup an encounter during the game such as when a druid summons a bunch of tiny creatures.

Is this just not possible to automate? Will it be possible in Unity? If it isn't, I'd like to request that feature.

I don't think tokens scale automatically to smaller than one square. At least I've never noticed or needed them to be smaller than a medium token. The way I play (which doesn't need to be how you play!) is that I never zoom in that much and when I have lots of tiny creatures I group them into swarms.

All that said, you can always add your suggestion to the wishlist (https://fg2app.idea.informer.com).

Indeed anything of medium or smaller takes up one square

I added this to the wishlist (https://fg2app.idea.informer.com/proj/?ia=124207) a while back. It has not attracted many votes.

Yes. I know. But I don't want that obviously.

Thanks. I searched for that on the list and didn't see it. Thanks for linking it. I voted for it.

I'd like to see this done as well. Our rogue got swarmed (not swarm rules) by stirges the other night. As tiny creatures, they can share your square. How are others handling this? There were so many on her, it turned into a mess on the map.

Fyi, for anyone interested: She scouted way too far ahead and stumbled into a cave full of stirges. She came running back to the party, screaming. As she got closer, they heard her and charged forward. She passed out as they caught up. She survived, but the little blood-drinking jerks forced two missed death saves.

Set the token size and reach in the CT to zero and use the middle mouse wheel to make the tokens wee.

That's an interesting way of dealing with the situation. Thanks for sharing that.

Setting the token and reach sizes to zero didn't do anything for me. Anything from 5 and below still take up a 5 foot space. And I already stated in the original post that I know the ctrl-mouse-wheel, resizing trick. I'm looking for ways to automate the process. But thanks anyway.

Setting the size and reach to zero gets rid of the underlay so that the token appears to take up no space. The suggestion is a compromise; I doubt we'll ever see tokens defaulting to anything smaller than one square due to the technical difficulties involved.

Just to re-iterate, set the reach to zero AND re-scale the tokens. It's what I've done many times. Other times I just line the tiny creatures (often stirges!) upon the side of the map and don't try to place more than one in the actual place they are.

I try to remember how I would handle this at the table. And there I would normally just use one or two minis to represent the group and tell the players that their are X there (and probably put a die next to it indicating how many).
