View Full Version : Module export failed

Trying to use the Module Export window and I keep getting a "Module export failed!" error in the chat window.

Information is slim on why this might occur but I've checked the following:

* Client is "v.3.3.8 PLAYER" (doesn't work with DEMO license)
* modules directory is writable (777 - some people find the folder is not writable)
* No messages in the console.
* Error occurs using any ruleset.
* No other application has a lock on folder/file (some people can't export when they have their module file open with a program like WinZip or similar).

I am running on OSX 10.14.6 (Mojave).

Thoughts? Is it possibly a Mac thing?

Thanks in advance.

Moved to the house of healing thread.

You can't export modules with the PLAYER license - this is for joining games only, or running demo campaigns.

PLAYER licenses (used to be called LITE) licenses haven't been available to purchase for a few years. Did you purchase that license a few years ago?

Ah I see. New to FG and have been contracted to do some programming for a publishing house. The license was a "spare" one the publisher loaned me just to get started.

As a developer is it better to get Ultimate or will Standard suffice for building a full ruleset and supporting modules, campaigns, etc?

And thanks for moving this to the right thread. Still feeling my way around.

Thanks in advance.

Standard/full will be fine - you an develop, save, export, etc. - and can also run a player instance on the some computer - "join game" with a server address of localhost

And that's not the only thing that won't run :) Catalina is going to be a bit of a rough ride.

I might be able to say after next weekend ;) I have to say though, your YouTube videos have been a God-send in helping me learn. I'll definitely give you a ping when I'm in Sydney next and shout you a coffee.

When I get my head around things a bit more I wouldn't mind working out how we can improve and freshen the community documentation for custom development - maybe get some sort of working group together if that is something the FG dev community is interested in doing??? I'm one of those unusual developers that actually likes doing documentation ;)
