Hello,

If the GM puts new character portraits into his portraits directory, can the other players see and use them?

Thanks.

Rob.

No the players can not see portraits on the GM's computer. In fact this is the only graphic that the server recieves from the clients (well other than stuff drawn on a map). Once the server gets the portrait is sends it out to the other clients. This is why when someone picks a portrait you may notice some lag before the portait actually shows up.

You can set a portrait for a player after the fact. Let them login with their character. Then go to the ...Fantasy Grounds/'Campaign'/portraits directory (where 'Campaign' is the name of your campaign.

Put the portrait in there and rename it to the characters name with no .ext on it. When the player logs off and comes back in the portrait will be set.

Blimey, a DM could have fun with that feature. My brother had better watch out :)

Yeah, I do this also to change character portraits.

Though, I also do it in reverse. Because I use portrait style tokens instead of top down ones I'll go into the portraits folder and copy it to the desktop resize it and punch a token from the graphic. Don't do this while FG is running it will probaly make it crash.
